I came up with the idea to use the door panels from a late model pickup based on a video I saw on Youtube. I purchased these on Ebay in hopes to mount them in my truck. The problem I encountered was the odd shape of the outer corner. After much debate I made an extension to fill in that area and replaced the carpet on the bottom trim. This is what I came up with. I still have to decide if I'll use manual or power windows and if I'll change out the latching mechanism, but so far I don't think it looks too bad. They match my seats perfectly!

That looks nice, what did they come out of? Not to be a copy cat but that looks like it would match the Yukon seats I have too. Do you have power windows? It looks like the window crank will interfere with the armrest extension.

I got them off ebay awhile back and if I remember correctly they are the rear door panels from a 96 - 99 Suburban or Silverado. I'm still tweaking them but I will more than likely add power windows & door locks.

Thats cool. I wouldn't have thought the whole panel would fit. I was thinking about taking some panels off some Miatas and such and frankenstein-ing my own. I wanted a basic panel but the ability to have at least power door locks and keep with that vintage look, like those from a VW bug. We'll see what I come up with when I get to that stage.

Yep, looks just like the door panels from my old '99 Suburban. They do look like they fit rather well. I wonder if the Suburban interior door handle would work too, maybe with bear claw latches and then power windows....

Thanks for the info, time to take some measurements and hit the wrecking yard. I have been eyeballing different arm rest ideas but like the speakers etc. I am keeping everything manual so window crank will need to work.
