4x4 lwb into swb Questions

Can a 72 4x4 lwb truck be cut down into a swb 4x4? I know about the 2wd trucks you can do that way, but i am guessing you can do the same with a 4x4 to? Does anyone have experience or a build thread on this? Thanks

Yes, it can and has been done. You should be able to do a search, and come up with info.
I have one I am currently doing. Cutting the frame is pretty simple, and straightforword. Some cut the box down. I am just building a new box, as the current one is really rough. I've been meaning to start a build thread on it. I will try to get on it soon.

Re: 4x4 lwb into swb Questions

I figured it was pretty much the same as doing a 2wd frame. I just wanted to make sure or see a thread on it. I have searched on the site and can't seem to find a thread on it. I am going to just put new bed sides on.

Re: 4x4 lwb into swb Questions

I just did this to my 66. Different model but same process. If the 72 4x4 frame is like the 66 it is deeper in the area under the cab than the 2wd models. I cut mine and took 12" out just behind the rear cab mount. Most references say to cut 8" off the back but I think you can cut less and leave more area for the rear sill mounts to land on, like maybe only cut 6-1/2" or 7".
