front spring ideas

i have a 71 chevy k20 with a big block. i put 2" lift springs in the front and it rode really stiff. i would like to keep the negative arch spring ride, any suggestions for spring combinations to get that amount of lift? or kit that you know of? or a block?

Re: front spring ideas

I have never heard anything good about using blocks in front, probably should cross that idea off your list.

What kind of 2" springs do you have? I'm using Softrides and it seems like a pretty decent ride to me. And that's with a 350 that weighs less than your big-block.

Maybe your shocks are the problem? And what about tires? For instance, E-rated tires at 80 psi will stiffen the ride considerably.

Front lift blocks are illegal in most states, and definitely illegal in Michigan.

Look into some quality lift springs. You get what you pay for and this is often reflected in how the vehicle rides.

Re: front spring ideas

zero rate springs are only 1". You Could add that and a longer shackle and get close to 2". Check ORD or DIY4x.com for parts. Uses your stock springs so the ride would be better.

Re: front spring ideas

You could add an extra leaf or two to the stock spring, the thickness of the leaf alone will be about a half inch plus any height you get from the spring itself. I'd probably steer clear of shackles if your pinion angle and caster is good right now.
