Re: Pics Thread:A Motor A Day

Had to do a few minor repairs to this one. 8L Doosan I6. Found a drum sitting around the corner marked bad fuel, #5 injector stuck open and turned the exhaust into a flame thrower. It still ran even with a melted valve and piston.

That's a tough bottom end to take that. Ran a little rough, sound bad, or just down on power?

Re: Pics Thread:A Motor A Day

Only complaint was the flame out of the exhaust and then it wouldn’t restart after they shut it down. I put a used injector in it to get it loaded on a trailer because it was somewhere I didn’t want to be. After that it ran good enough the operator thought it was fixed. Tiny vibration caused by the dead cylinder but still had good power

Wow. I wonder how many with the same problem just kept running theirs once they changed the injector.

I wondered if you'd have something like that to say. You buy 'em and they fry 'um, ey? "I was just trying to get the job done". Or is it, "My machine runs so good it shoots flames"?

Re: Pics Thread:A Motor A Day

Here is another one. I graduated from the Automotive Technology program at SIUC and there is a 66 Chevy Nova that is a never ending student project. This is the engine that was in it when I left. 400ci Dart aluminum block and heads, roller cam and tuned for long life not all out power. The car has a TH400 with a brake and a 4 link out back. This was taken after the oil pump locked up and chewed all the teeth off the dist gear. I was at the far end of the track doing about 110mph (1/8 mile) when the engine died and wouldnt restart.

Re: Pics Thread:A Motor A Day

I put this spare under this truck 30 years ago. Picture was taken a while back. I have five of these tires mounted and ready to go, except they are over thirty years old.

Re: Pics Thread:A Motor A Day

They are probably safer than 6 1/2 year old tires.

One big stick on this engine hoist! I can't remember the details but it is an engine for a small ship being delivered some where in Asia.

This should have read 30,000 miles. 32,000 miles to be more exact.

I changed the panhard bar with the bad bushing to an adjustable one when I lowered the truck last week.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.
