There are two phillips head screws under the edge of the dash that hold the unit in place. The light bulb holder plugs into the left side in the back, and the wiring for the heater switch plugs into the switch on the right side. Here is a thread I posted about removing the small round keepers from the control cables:

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=211815

and a thread where I posted which cables go where on the heater boxes (Post #4):

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=241369

Re: Heater controls ?

Thanks but my fan swich is whare the cigarette lighter was. The keepers are the same as the other end of the cable for the heater box. I did not

Do you only have one fan speed then?

This would be a good time to put it back to original as long as you have to take it out anyway.....

The best thing to do would be to get the whole setup out of a junk yard truck, that way you would know you have everything you need.....

Re: Heater controls ?

I'm not going to order on of those kits. They don't have the clear plastic part. Instead the give you a skicker to put over it. I don't like that and it doesn't come wit a new fan swich. $ 40 for the kit +$20 for the swich. $60 total. I don't have the funds for that right now so instead I'm going get another asembly form another pickup. Well a c50. Thare the same right? As for the swich I'll get a new one but not right now looks easy to replace under the dash

Not sure on the C50, it's been a long time since I looked at one. If the C50 unit will work it should have the switch on it. Don't forget to get the resistor. It will be in the top of the interior heater box. The wires from the switch run to it and it takes a 5/16 wrench to remove it. Be careful with it, it can be kind of fragile....

Looks good! The knobs will come off but they can be pretty tough sometimes.

Good score on the extra parts
