need advice on conversion!

ok well i bought some drop spindles from forum member ksbrktracer and the quality on them ehhh not good ill post up some pics later on if i can but anyways the spindles are for a 1.25 inch rotor and i have a 1 rotor i do not want to spend money on reshipping and dont want to shed out 300 for beltechs at my local performance shop...from what i know i need to switch out my brakes brake calipers, and rotors but i have no absolute clue on what parts to buy!

i went to my local autozone and they told me theres no such thing a heavy duty half ton they were clueless told me theres only one size and only one size available for rotors for c10s which they say are the 1 inch rotors...i need help asap as my truck has been on jackstands for the past 2 days! plus my dad is reaaaaaaaally on my ass about this problem..

Re: need advice on conversion!

Buy '73 rotors and calipers.
They only come in the 1.25 hd rotor width.

Re: need advice on conversion!

Some of the confusion may come from the terminology. It's not that there is a "heavy duty" as a step-up from standard. It's just that there is a "light duty" version. The "not light" is just that standard stuff.

Re: need advice on conversion!

Also the HD rotor has a different inner bearing.
But I would buy new bearings also.

Since your truck is an '86 I would just get '86 HD calipers, since your brake hoses are probably now attached with a 10mm metric banjo bolt.
The 73-78 calipers have a standard 7/16-20 banjo bolt.

Re: need advice on conversion!

Thank you for posting up that info Keith. We started out ordering spindles for the 1" rotors but then He remeasured and said he had the 1.25" rotor.
Now the thing that hurts is shipping stuff back and I suggested going ahead and switching over to the 1.25 rotors but I think he may have gotten ahold of one of the guys that works at my local Oreillys store. I have to look my own stuff up usually ........ !!!!! Those #s will be a big help for him.

Re: need advice on conversion!

A little update..i was going to go to buy the heavy half today but then my pops stopped me and refused to let me buy the stuff because of too much work money and risk of not fitting so he basically gave me two options fork over 300+ to buy belltech spindles or call it a loss and sell the spindles i have now and try to resell them...i am in a money pit!

Re: need advice on conversion!

Why don't you just send them back and get the light duty 1" version from the same Vendor???
It was your error on rotor width.

Re: need advice on conversion!

Do you want me to figure out what it would cost to return those or do you want to try and sell them out right ... They should be very easy to sell as they fit 73-87's . Let me know
