Project Cupcake 1971 BBC

Ok so I am looking at a quick build (3 months) and something that has a/c, PS, turn heads, will lay a black patch on the road and can be heard from a ways away and be cheap (under $3500 total including price of the truck)

So I am starting with a 1971 SWB 454 with a wrecked front end.

The truck came with a bunch of parts that I will sell to offset the price of the truck. I will keep a running total of all money spent and the clock will start now.

$1200 1971 Chevy 454 SWB

I will post pics and keep you updated on the build every few days.

Re: Project Cupcake 1971 BBC

I have a 1967 front clip I will install,I got it for $50.
I will install the missing a/c parts that go under the hood(compressor, condensor, dryer, lines).
Fix the couple of leaks (trans and valve cover).
Detail out the engine compartment (rattle can special).
Paint the truck in the same general paint scheme it already is (satin black and blue two tone).
Depending on what money is left I may throw some bling on the engine.

Re: Project Cupcake 1971 BBC

So I have decided a kind of direction with this truck; in no order:

1) somewhat stock height

2) Kept the rims and tires...they cleaned up nice and tires are newer 31X10.5X15

3) Kept the step side bed (it grew on me)

6) Flat black (John Deere flat black) $33

7) 1994 chevy serpintine belt system with adapter brackets off ebay and all accesories of a 350/305/4.3 truck engine(with out smog pump) in a box ready to install $200 for all the accesories and $80 for brackets to mount it.

8) headers with 2 1/2" pipes with H cross over that dumps before the rear axle with 2 chamber flowmaster 40's (headers $120, Flowmaster 40's with 2 1/2 aluminized pipe that dumps infront of the axle $50 used)

9) T350 with a 2800 stall $350

10) New 1971 Fenders $200 (board member)

11) New inner fender wells $50 for both (clearance from Parts Depot in South Dallas)

12) Good driver quality 1971-1972 Grill surround and grill $100

Time to gather parts!

Parts I sold...67 front clip $150, there was a box of parts in the bed of the truck I sold....billet dist $150, edlebrock carb $150, chrome VC abd Air cleaner $50, hood and fenders that I took off the truck $100

Running Total : $2386
Minus parts sold -$600
Total spent: $1786

good looking project, good luck with your build and timeline. I need to shop in moody if you can get 50.00 clips.

That is 3 months from the time I get back from Iraq. I am here for a year long tour (again) my 3 months will start in June-July when I get back.
