Re: Picked up a used CREW CAB

Nice looking crew cabs guys!!!!!!!
I just got an 06 Tahoe awhille back. I looked all over for 22's but I am going to use the Tahoe to pull a car trailer and boat. So I went with 20's. I also lowered it with springs and torsion keys. I looks good with the 20's lowerd. I also put on a cowl hood, roll pan and removed the roof rack. Next I am going to do the Escalade handles like N2TRUX.

Nothing is stock at my House!!!!

Re: Picked up a used CREW CAB

Went ahead and ordered my wheels and tires today. Got the Black Rhino (TSW) wheels in a 22x9 with a nitto 420 tire. Backspacing is +20mm on a 9" wheel. Cant wait to get them on. I put a set of drop shackles on the rear this morning and brought it down 1.5" Being a chevy the truck sits exactly 1/2" lower on the pass side vs the DS?? Go fiqure. Here is a quick pic again!!

Re: Picked up a used CREW CAB

What size tire did you go with? I talked to my tire guy again today and he said I could get by with a 305/40 but the 305/45 would give me problems.

I spent most of the day playing with my truck too. I got whale tail removed, and the Snug lid installed. I put a shackle on as well. Yep, mine was the same as yours, sitting at least a half inch lower on the driver side.

I pulled the front license plate, and now I have to pick up some stainless pan head screws to cover the holes. Tomorrow the badges come off cause I don't need no "steenkin badges"...

Tire was a 305 40 22 nitto. Backspacing in inches on the 9" wheel ends up being about 5.75 or just a very small tad more +20mm they call it. Yeah whats up with the lean?? Do yourself a favor and get the 3m wheel to get that adhesive off. I got 3 off in the time it took me to do 1 by hand. Got my wheels from http://www.customwheelsdirect.com/wh...ino_Wheels.php they had a good price mounted balanced and shipped to my door with lugs and locks. What did you replace the whale tail with??

Re: Picked up a used CREW CAB

I don't know why the lean, but the kid that installed my Snug lid says ever one that he has seen does it. Some are over an inch difference.

I know exactly what your talking about on the time to clean the glue off. I'll try to find one of the 3M wheels tomorrow. I ran so much today that I didn't have time to look for one.

I'm not sure what the options are for adding more bass. Take a look over at www.fullsizechevy.com in the audio forum and you will probably get more info than you can stand.

I have been looking at adding Sirius radio. I have it in my Dodge QC truck and like the comedy channels. I just hate paying a monthly fee. I got a free radio and lifetime subscription when I bought my Dodge so I'm spoiled.

Let me know how these wheels mount up on the truck (stick out or tuck) I'm ready to change wheels, tires or both to solve the problem.......

Re: Picked up a used CREW CAB

Here's another CC I found over at FSC.com. This one is 2/4 on 23's. I haven't found the tire size yet.

There ya go Keith, get that 2/4 installed-

Re: Picked up a used CREW CAB

I found out yesterday that my truck was lower on the drivers rear by 1.75". It seems that there is a issue with the CC's leaning badly that I wasn't aware of. Keith, I know you are pretty good at checking this things, how bad is yours off.

After a bit of research I am finding that there is a GM service bulletin regarding the front. I haven't found anything about the rear though. Ironically mine doesn't really look like it's leaning that much.

Re: Picked up a used CREW CAB

I guess mine only being 1/2" off isnt bad then?? That CC up top there is NICE. Not very practical with that sidewall on the tire at all though. I have to be able to pull atrailer and the sidewall of the 305/40/22 is good for that. I really am trying to keep this thing as a DD and not go overboard. I doubt I will ever lower mine more than the shackles I have put in.

Yeah, I'm with you on the rubber band tires. I won't go any lower with mine either. I'm just looking at pics trying to decide what wheels I want.

Glad to be there for ya.

Two words come to mind concerning your trailering delima. "Helper bags". Remember the time I loaded my 95 full of video games and hauled them back to Houston? Those airlift bags worked awesome on that trip.

Here's the latest pics with a Snug lid installed, 2" shackle, and factory chrome wheels.

Sorry about the pic quality, it's the best I could do with the morning sun glaring down.

I thought the chrome wheels looked better than the alloy wheels. They are going on my 95 X-cab when they come off of this one.

I had planned to pull the moulding and badges today, but got sidetracked on another project. I bought a new tube for my Cruiser bicycle and wanted to get it installed. Of course that lead to a complete detail and a long ride through the hood...

Tomorrow I will try to find a 3M wheel...

Re: Picked up a used CREW CAB

No wheels yet. I went by my local tire store and looked at what came in. I went home dissapointed. The only one they had that I liked is pictured below.

During my running around this weekend I stopped at 9 different auto parts stores looking for a 3M stripe off wheel. I got 6 blank stares, one guy showed me a small wire wheel, and one guy went in the back and brought out an abrasive wheel.....

So I got 4 emblems off the hard way. I used the fishing line trick to cut them off then spent an hour or two with WD40 and my thumbnail getting the rest of the glue off.

Needless to say I did NOT take the side moulding off.

Re: Picked up a used CREW CAB

Yeah, get those pictures posted. I am still trying to make up my mind in wheels.

I went back to where I bought my Snug Lid yesterday and had them install a set of Westin Sport Tubes. They are the same chrome tubes that came on the 02-03 Harley F-150. I felt like this thing needed something to set the black off. The chrome tubes makes a big difference.

While I was there I had them drop the shackle on the drivers side down a hole. This effectively raised the driver side and now the truck sits the same on both sides. I can't believe this thing ended up leaning 1.5" on one side.

That helped my ride quit a bit too. I didn't realize how bad it was bottoming out on the bumpstop. Now I have to cut my stops down and figure out how to lower it again. Do they make a 3" shackle for these trucks? Can I buy just one?

I can do that. I have had so far 18' 1800# trailer with a 5000# truck on this. No rub or bottoming out in the rearend. Also had some BIG friends in the truck me at 220 passenger at 190 and two guys in the back at 350 and 210. No bottoming out or rubbing.

Re: Picked up a used CREW CAB

The wheels look great. It really set the truck off. So those are 305/40/22's? I just want to make sure that I get the right tire.

I don't know if I should contact my dealers service manager about my truck being so low or not. My guess is they will not do anything if I have the shackles on there.
