What do you guys think would look better on my 69 C10 long box?

Anyone got any pics of roll pans and rear bumpers I can look at to help me decide?

i like the roll pan look but will never own one i like bumper for protection.i would go with bumper with all them idiots up there where you live lol

Rear bumper before we tacked the brackets to the frame, The bumper kept sliding down...Just imagine it up a little more now

I love the looks of my roll pan. Here's my problem with it though. You can't really take the bed apart since it is welded to the sides of the bed (no gap) I need to replace the floor in my bed...kinda makes it tricky.

I prefer the Rollpan look. It makes the body look
alot more fluid than with a bumper..
And they are easy to install, or replace..

IF yout talking about a stock style chrome bumper vrs roll pan, I'd go with the bumper.
If your talking some butt ugly step bumper with a sissy hitch on it, I'd say go wih the pan.
IMO, the pan makes it look something like all those early S-10s that came without a bumper...incomplete.
But,(again...IMO) incomplete looks better than a step bumper.
I can't find a pic of the nice bumper I have now, but you can see one just like it in chevjayfsd's post. So here is the fugly sissy bumper on how NOT to do it.

Again....just IMO.

I'd go with a stock chrome rear bumper, they are very low profile don't stick out much, and for a even better look shave the bumper bolt heads.

i like the big step bumpers on the back of my truck but of course mine is a 3/4 ton work truck and the bumper ways about 120 pounds cause it is made out of 1/4 inch plate steel

Fiberglass roll pan, I'm paintingthe truck to match the vette, so the chrome bumpers will look better all the way around, but for the yellow it looked good.

I like the looks of a pan, but there is no protection from the people behind you that are day dreaming! I have a modified drop center step bumper(filled & smoothed center,& also tucked in a little closer to the truck). along with the bumper, the gate is smoothed, tail lights filled, & 6- 3" round lights & the L plate are frenched into the gate.......it gives the old truck a different look

Chrome bumpers look best if you trim out the entire rear with chrome (tail lights, etc). If you want to blend, roll it. But one thing to keep in mind, "if you just can't decide, chrome it!" (some guy off a street rod truck show)

roll pan. makes the backend look soo much cleaner imo. when i get a new bed put on with a roll pan i'll post some pics.

Well, I want a clean street cruiser. I plan to paint her Fairwya Green Metallic. I'm getting rid of all the chrome body strips that were on the truck...

With the chrome trim on the truck I like the chrome bumper. With the truck de-chromed or on a stepside I like a roll pan. (with louvers on the stepside)

My '69 stepside has a diamond plate original type step bumper that is about as big as the rest of the truck. Free to a good home, or bad home, I don't care.

P.S. Mellow Yellow. Are those wheels '88 and up Chevy Chrome wheels? They look like they fit the tread width real well without sticking out too far.

I like rolls pans on all but the full trim trucks. You can add some C-channel or tube in behind the roll pan for impact protection. Right now mine just has a peice of C-channel painted body colour

I've always found (personally) that the darker the color, the more chrome is 'needed' for the vehicle.
How dark is that green?

Here is my idea.....I'm thinking of using a roll pan, with a hidden hitch behind the license plate. Running the roll pan would be for show, so to speak. The difference? Using a stock chrome bumper on a special mount to insert into the receiver! Can you visualize that? My concern is making sure the bumper didn't contact the pan and that it would have the correct appearance from the rear. This way, you could have your roll pan AND your bumper and use 'em as you see fit.

Anybody got any other thoughts on this idea?

It isn't as dark as the Forest green chevy has out now. It was a color Chevy had out a few years ago... not very popular. I wish I could find a pic of it! I will do some searching...

Right now, I am thinking roll pan....

The wheels are of a friend of mines 1990 454SS truck, the pics about 4 years old, the front tires are 255/60/15's and the rears are 285/60 15's
