Z-bar help
I hope someone can tell me the secret to installing the z-bar in a 65 c10 with a 350.
I removed the z-bar to install a set of Hooker headers. I had a hard time removing the z-bar but found an angle which allowed it to come out. Now that I have installed the header I can't get the z-bar back in because the one angle that worked to get it out is not available anymore. The header will not interfere with the z-bar once I get it in. It's like it is too long to fit over the pivot ball and mount in the frame bracket. There has to be some trick to this that I can't figure out. Thanks for your help! |

Can you pull the bolts out of the header and let it drop or move in place...install z bar....then bolt the header back up?

Does the bracket end come off the frame? Might be able the remove forward bolt and pivot bracket out enough to install.

I will try this tomorrow but am not hopeful. The clearances with the header are so tight there is not much leeway. Notsolo: The mount is riveted to the frame. As a last resort, I will drill out the rivots so I can move the mount. I know this will work. Thanks for your help. I will let you know what happens. |

What about pulling motor mount bolts and jacking motor up on one side....

removing the rivets holding the outside bracket to the frame will do the trick. Then just bolt it back in place.

I ran into the same problem last weekend on my truck. I have a 65 C30 I just put a 350 in. I took the motor mount bolts back out and used a jack and a couple 2x4s. Jack the engine back up about 2 inches and it will slide right back in.

The easiest solution for me is to remove the rivots and bolt it back in. Thanks for the help!!!
