Rams Horn Exhaust Manifolds

Hey guys, I recently put together a vortec sbc. After doing this I decided to change from my old headers with holes in them to rams horn exhaust manifolds(the corvette style ones). After putting the manifolds on I brought the truck to an exhaust shop and they said they were unable to put exhaust on the truck. This was due to there being no clearance on the passenger side for a pipe they said. Could this be right? Looking in there it looks like there's plenty of room. I know there are guys on here that are running rams horns on their trucks so I'm just curious how to route the exhaust. Thanks

If it is the ones that has a dump that is straight down, I had the same issue. No shop could make the bend with what they had. I ordered correct ones from LMC and they were solid.

Can you give me a part number? Also I found the stock center dumps with an angle but I can't find any the right size. I'm going with 2 1/2" exhaust.

Re: Rams Horn Exhaust Manifolds

I installed the straight down dump 2 1/2" collector corvette manifolds on my '71 350 C-10 last year. I made the pipe myself piece by piece and routed around the frame and starter getting down to the normal type of setup but it is tight, however I have good flowing exhaust out of cast rams horn manifolds that look stock.

I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think there is a 2 1/2" with the angled dump.

I have corvette style ram horns with straight down with 350 on 67, I am running the heat riser, not a problem.

Re: Rams Horn Exhaust Manifolds

Straight dumps are a very tough fit on 2wd as he engine frame mount and starter interfere. They fit easily on a 4wd.
2wd angle dumps which are stock do not come in 2.5, just 2.25 or whatever they are.
So to make it easy use the 2wd angle dumps and start the down pipes in 2.25 hen increase size to 2.5 as soon as practical, every truck with 2.5 exhaust has it done this way with stock manifolds.
I recently parted a 2wd that had straight dumps and 2.25 inch pipes, they trimmed the engine frame stands to get that to fit.
