Re: Project Pancho Villa - 1978 SWB

Yesterday was another great day! Motor and transmission mounted, ran the custom spark plug wires through the polished looms, starter hooked up, and all the little details.

Here's a small video of the 383 stroker running. The sound of the video doesn't do the motor justice in real life. It was nothing short of jaw dropping! My thanks to my friend Kent, whose been bustin' his butt on this project with me. Hardest working guy I know!

Re: Project Pancho Villa - 1978 SWB

Thanks guys for all your support and comments.

FB10, I play to use Corsa exhaust. Back in the early 2000s, I had a black C5 Corvette with Corsa exhaust and really liked it. Quiet at cruise, but race car sound at WOT.

They make a muffler set, but I want a set of Pro Series tips and I don't believe they sell those separately. I think a quad set of Pro Series tips would look awesome (unique) on an older chevy truck.

Update!

We worked from 8am till 10:00, 14 hours straight today. Did the final 2k sanding, then spent a good deal of time prepping the garage for paint. We took everything out last friday and scrubbed the garage down, then cleaned everything as it was brought back in.

Put up the plastic and made a positive air paint booth, with incoming air going through a home filter. Neighbor stopped by yesterday to check on progress and brought over a "squirrel cage" blower he had. That sucks the chrome off a trailer hitch!

Shot two coats of sealer, then laid down three coats of black base coat. It's unbelievable how good it looks. Lot of time prepping and it came out great. We'll see better tomorrow with sunlight, but with the lighting we had, came out great.

I shot the TCPGlobal "Restoration Shop" black bc/cc. Laid down like glass with the Iwata LP400. My first time painting (with a real gun), other than the primer we've shot prepping. I love the LPH-400! That gun is mega-sweet and glad I took the advice of some forum members here to pick one up.

We'll be doing the clear coat in the morning. Using fast reducer (bought it back when it was still pretty cool here), so nights and mornings are still in 50s.

I'll post some pics up tomorrow.

Re: Project Pancho Villa - 1978 SWB

Arghhh! Got two runs in the clear, so we're going to stop and "nib" those out. I think I was getting a little too confident in spraying, as the base coat went so well. Just two minor runs though, going a lot better than I expected! I'll post pics up later tonight. So glad to be at this stage, finally!

Re: Project Pancho Villa - 1978 SWB

Hey Jeff, haven't heard from Greyhound on the one you sent. I'll give the local office a call tomorrow...maybe they just haven't gotten around to calling yet. Eric's seats arrived today. Should have the seat covers from Capt Kaos sometime this week.

Been stalled a little lately. I run a software business and have been working on a few updates. Hopefully will get those done in the next day or two, then can focus back on the truck again.

Should have some new pics in a few days. I'm just about finished with the cab (wet sanding and half cut/buff).

They really should have told us about this when we were younger. As an adult you will have no time for fun!
