Step one ... grab a skanky old office chair

So the flag/banner/embroidery business next door is moving. They had a ton of stuff they were tossing. I’ve been on the lookout for a decent roll around stool to use when I’m at the office doing shop work (copier/printer) service and sales. Grabbed three old skanky looking roll around office chairs they were tossing. I like em because they adjust up and down.

First remove and toss the back.

Second remove the wheels and dig out all of the entangled thread.

Third remove all the base parts

Last staple some old scrap vinyl over the skanky seat and reassemble

Whaalaaa! I nice adjustable roll around work stool.

Re: Step one ... grab a skanky old office chair

Did the same with a chair at my wife's building, but used the round wooden top from a crappy barstool I found at the curb on trash day that seemed to be virtually unused.

Those casters on the older chairs (new ones are all plastic) make for good creepers. Not very low-profile, but if your truck is tall enough, it works fine.

It won't work until you put the word "CRAFTSMAN" across the seat in white letters.

I use the wheel base and put a pole and a light in the hole and then I have a roll around shop light

Re: Step one ... grab a skanky old office chair

I just had a flashback to cutting all my wife's hair out of our vacuum

That's pretty sweet, and the dirt/oil/grease will wipe off the vinyl (for the most part anyway).

Re: Step one ... grab a skanky old office chair

Here's mine !

This is the first stage of getting old ! Why kneel on the floor cutting and welding when you can sit down ? It's a lot easier to get back up and if you can't then you just roll into the house and slide into the recliner .
