heads up anyone looking for parts for a straight six.. i am ordering parts on rock auto and seems to be a lot of cheap parts they are trying to get off the shelves. got 4 oil filters for 12 bucks.

I have an issue with my 292. I am swapping out a 250. I do have a 292 perch and now I have a problem with the bracket that bolts to the passenger side of the block. The holes in the bracket are too far apart by about 1/2" and there is a 1" gap between the bracket and the motor mount. Is the bracket that bolts to the block different on the 292. If it is is there a source for them and if so please let me know. Thanks - Terry

i believe they are different... here is a link to use the same motor mounts as a 250 but would need to use a electric fuel pump

Is the 292 you have a 65 or earlier engine?

For the right side you need to use another left hand mount with spacers for the two bottom bolts.

Here's some pictures for reference of a 65 or earlier block on the mounts and perches. You can see the spacer between the block and engine perch. In 66 this design was changed so the engine perch mounted directly to the block.

They aren't cheap, but yes...alot of the european inliners use them.

So I just moved and moving my 65 and all its parts got me thinking about my engine build. While I am still a while away from starting the engine build I started to do some research on fuel injection. My plan had been to run triple side draught Webers but I see companies like Jenvey are making Weber replacements and I must admit the thought of individual throttle bodies on my little 230 sounds pretty appealing. Has anyone done this before?

Somewhere I have seen a dual throttle body 6 banger. Its been sometime but I know I have. Though it will take a fair amount of mods to your 230 to need all that fuel. I'd stroke it to a 250 which would require crank, rods, and pistons(don't quote me on the rods and pistons), so you can have more cubic inch...or just grab a 250 or 292. More cubic inch the better. I have a build myself but not as radical as your thinking so I can't be of too much help....alot of people on here won't be either. Not saying bad about them, but none have done the build your thinking of. Larry aka Twisted 6 is the only inliner racer/builder/machinist on here. Better place to subscribe for this type of information would be here: www.inliners.org

Here's one. Not quite what you had in mind I bet but it could work on an inline six just as well. There is a more compelling case for using two throttle bodies on a flat-6 though.

Thanks for the words of advice! I thought I might be on my own figuring this out. I am on the inliners forum and will probably post the same question there.

The engine would have a total of 6 throttle bodies, 1 per cylinder. Not unlike a high performance BMW M3/M5 6-cylinder from the 90's. First thing I would need is is a triple side draught Weber manifold. I'm also reading up on a Meqasquirt ECU to control everything. I've built one before to control a fuel injected rotary engine in an RX-7 that I used to own.

As I mentioned earlier in the thread my 230 is original to my truck but I do plan to be pretty aggressive with the build. I'm not opposed to the 250 crank but I have the 6 counterweight 64-66 crank which is a pretty stout choice.

They've had triple weber 50's on 292s before so I'm sure triple webers on a 230 will work fine as well. The crank you have is a great choice, but I'd also check with the pro's since your doing a radical build. You planning on a different head? Maybe like a Kirby/Sissel 12 port?

I was actually on the Kirby/Sissel website the other day doing some research.

Once I get the truck ready to accept an engine which means starting to spend money on the engine, I plan to call them.

I started a 261 build to replace my current 235. Going to do some very minor porting and cleanup on the head and will post some pictures soon. The head will get all new valves with the larger intake valves installed , new springs, new guides and new positive oil seals.
