I’m no expert here

My Blazer is 1970 cst
It shows po3’s on the spid
Which leads me to believe white caps were standard
On 69-70 cst’s also ?

Bruceman
Thanks for all the factual posts
Like I said previously, I always thought 1/2 ton Supers had full wheel covers
And 3/4 ton Supers had chrome hubcaps
I just like to put my trucks back, the way they were from the factory

Now I know
I was correct on the 3/4 assumption
But
My take away on the 1/2 ton trucks
Is
Po1 ( full wheel covers) when listed on spid
And
Po3 ( chrome hubcaps ) when no mention of hubcaps

P03 Chrome when no mention of wheel coverings on SPID for Cheyenne Supers. Lower trim levels would have base hubcaps unless a optional wheel covering was ordered. (P03,P01)

Thanks Bruce! I GOTTA get one of those. Have been looking for a long time and have only found them priced to the moon on eBay. Ha. Thanks for the great info.

Just checked the Data Books for 67-71. There is not any chrome hubcaps or wheel covers listed as part of the Z84 package for any of those years.
If you ordered a Z84 without ordering a optional wheel covering it would have come with painted hubcaps.

That just doesn't seem right, does it?

The only trim levels I can find that mention wheel coverings are the YE9 Cheyenne Super and the YG6, YG7, YG8 Highlander editions.

Re: ?Hubcaps? On Cheyenne Super

I just never noticed this until now. Amazing how it works sometimes. I checked about 10 glovebox doors with probably half of them CST and none listed chrome hubcaps. So must not be so unusual to not have the options as I think, thunk, thought, I dunno!

I only have the '71 data book. That's the one that lists the tow hooks as only available with painted bumpers

Re: ?Hubcaps? On Cheyenne Super

Just checked my 71 Data Book also. Dated January 15 1971.
Hooks, Towing: Two, front. Not available with chromed bumper........ V76
Maybe they are saying that the tow hooks weren't available when the front chrome bumper was ordered as a stand alone option, V46.

As long as we are hijacking the original question.

And we are focused on facts

Here is another question I don’t really know the answer to.
Leon, I’m using your spid for the example
Question?
When a spid had the (order no.) printed on the lower right
Does that mean it was a truck specifically ordered by a customer to be built to their specifications
Vs.
A truck that was ordered by a dealer to put on the lot

That's a good question - I always thought/assumed it was a customer order, but I don't know that for sure.

Everything I knew about hubcaps and wheel covers is wrong.

Re: ?Hubcaps? On Cheyenne Super

It hardly matters,
Stock caps were usually yanked shortly after purchase
Everyone would put on their own preference

45 years later we rediscover (factory correct)
And, we still put on our own preference

Re: ?Hubcaps? On Cheyenne Super

It works on cars, too. In '71 Chevrolet came out with a 6-hole rally wheel, and one of the people who bought a wagon wanted a set. We would have had to re-equip the car that came with them or something. Our parts department manager was a terror- he'd charge full retail to the new car sales department if they bought new wheels, caps and trim rings. One of our quick-thinking mechanics pointed out that maybe they aren't offered on wagons due to the extra weight of the car. I doubt that, but we dodged a bullet, that way. We never once sold a vehicle with any kind of "ups or extras", except for some silly looking paint add-ons on some Vegas.

Re: ?Hubcaps? On Cheyenne Super

The way this thread has gone is exactly how we have been working out the most minute detailed info on these trucks since this internet place for such discussion has existed. This is what puts this site above all the rest. It takes a combination of facts in text, personal experiences, and even some hear-say to iron out all the facts. Any deviation from hubcap discussion in this thread was related by way of being used as an example to show the most definitive sources in text can show discrepancies to the actual. In short, we are working this thing out here.
