Found this in the woods and had to bring it home

Here are some pictures of a 66 burb I acquired this last weekend. She is a little rough, but I think she will clean up and run again. There is part of a 283 left in it and the transmission is in the back. The glass is all good and the body is not too bad. A nice Idaho truck. I put on a couple of my old plates for the pics.

That's the one. It was about 5 miles off the main road down a windy gravel road.

I'm glad to see someone get it and do something with it rather than it end up on a slow boat to China.

Where about is Touchet WA?

Re: Found this in the woods and had to bring it home

Yes it is a GMC hood. I have an extra good straight Chevy hood hanging on the shop wall that can go on this rig and I will hang the GMC hood in its place. I even happen to have a 66 grill hanging under the hood. Don't know any history on this rig but it looks like School Bus yellow was the previous color. The 16" wheels and tires are some we put on it to get it up on the trailer. It came with 5 15" wheels and rag tires. The blue pickup in the background is another project of mine. I was going to part it out, however after getting a title for it and looking at how straight it was, I decided to get it running. It has a 305 that is seized, and I happen to have a 351 to replace it with.

I talked to that guy back in October, he did say it was a former school bus.

Re: Found this in the woods and had to bring it home

Today I got the old 283 pulled out of the burb. It appears that they lost a piston and rod in the # 6 hole. I might be able to salvage a few parts off it, but the block is scrap. I do have another engine to put in its place. After I get the engine compartment and bell housing cleaned up, I will be ready to set the engine in and see if I can get this thing on the road.
