Re: Jeep Door Stops

I found mine at the junk yard for $10 each. It was a long drive so I bought one with the rubber and one without. They both work well but the one rubber does not open quite as far. I would suggest the ones without the rubber but that is just my own opinion. I think the ones from the jeep pickup from the same years are the same also.

Ahhhhh my friend BOE. I have a quick mod for you if you still have the rubber style Jeep checks laying around. This tip is on my website and I have the rubber style on my 1965 C10 and it's all good.

This mod certainly works and gives you the option to choose your gap.

I hadn't thought to look at Jeep! I found the GM part number and it crosses to Corvairs too, maybe some other vehicles? of that era.

Re: Jeep Door Stops

Will those pins work on a stock door check? I don't have any.

Cheapest Jeep "replacements" that I found: Google for Dorman part number 924-148. Just bought 2 via Amazon for a tad over $75--s/h being free saved about $12 as compared to next cheapest I found. Good luck.

Re: Jeep Door Stops

So if you were to make the front ones slightly longer , that would be about perfect?

If you can find the Jeep front door checks with the rubber stop then THIS MODIFICATION will work very nicely to give you a normal opening for the door.

Re: Jeep Door Stops

This is an old thread, but I just changed to new Jeep door stops and have a question. The two detent positions are nice for tight parking lots and also keeping the door open when parking on a hill. The only thing I don't like is the noise they make as you open and close the door...sort of a creaking sound. Maybe they will get quieter with use. Anyone experience the same?

Re: Jeep Door Stops

My brand new stock ones were making a noise like that I sprayed em with white lithium grease, seemed to do the trick.

Thanks for the tip...should have thought of that. I only have a tube of white lithium. A small dab and no more creaking.
