sbc to bbc questions

I'm xomewhat new to these trucks. I've been on the dark side for my whole life and finally broke free and got a 1970 burb. I've not done many GM engine swaps and need some info on converting my 70 350 to a 454. Is there anything I need to change for the engine mounts. Also does the tranny x member need to be moved back. I plan on putting a 700r4 in it when I put the 454 in. Thanks

I can tell you that you will need big block frame stands. There are two styles, '69-'71 and '72 only. They can all be a little pricey but the '72 only will be more expensive. I know a few people have modified the '73 up mounts to work. If you do a search on the '73 mounts in the Google search box above you should come up with some info on it. If you don't use the BB stands the exhaust manifold or headers will hit them.

Yes, if you are converting from TH350/400 to 700R4, you'll need to relocate the trans crossmember. I'm not positive, but the height of the mount might be a little different too. I haven't done this to my Burb, but I'm planning the same swap for a '69 Nova. For the Nova, there are new crossmembers that can be purchased for about $150 bucks. I think there are also some "universal fit" crossmembers out there on the "wide, wide world of webs" too.
