Search youtube for aknovaman to see my other harness vids. They explain how simple it is to build a harness.

I paid wait4me performance $360 to redo my harness. since getting it back I have completely torn it apart and redid it. I now know how simple it is and I would never pay to have another one done. Matter of fact, my uncle is talking 5.3 in one of his trucks and Im gonna offer to do his harness for him in exchange for some parts. Yes, its easy...just a bit time consuming but is a days worth of sipping beer and playing with wires worth paying someone almost $400? no.

Re: Project "Steppin Wolf" LS swap

Aknovaman,

how did you group your harness wires and what am fuse for each set? I was going to group mine like this..
drivers side coil and injectors 15amp,
passenger side coils and injectors 15amp,
ign.ecu,sensors,transmission 15amp,
batt ecu 10amp

does this seem right? thanks for any help

Re: Project "Steppin Wolf" LS swap

That sounds good. Pm me with your phone number so we can discuss. It's just easier for me that way. Too much typing.

Ls2 Gto actually connects all power on each bank together so there are only 3 power wires. USA gm separates them more into multiple circuits.

Went to u wrench it today and harvested over 30 Taurus relay banks. Not bad for $5 each bank. Last time I snagged over 40 obd ports. I prefer to use the new fuse panels as the wires connect with spade lugs below the fuses and terminals are not exposed to morons who drop stuff on them and short things out. Plus I have not found any suitable fuse panels on USA vehicles.
I did find some relay banks on ford explorers near driver side firewall on fender but they only contain 2 relays. I use 4 relays, main, fuel, fan1 and fan2.

Sunburnt and tired from morning activities.....need ice cream now.......

Re: Project "Steppin Wolf" LS swap

Aknovaman....thanks for the call and the help. Should have my fuse block done tonight. I'm still kinda confused about transmission but I think it'll make more since when everything is layed out in front of me.

Re: Project "Steppin Wolf" LS swap

Finished fuse/relay box. I havent wired in the electric fan relay because Ill be running the manual fan starting off.

Also decided to replace the transmission seals. I already had a th400 rear seal laying around and theyre the same part number so I stuck it in there but hafta go buy a 4l80 front seal.

I have been on this earth almost 38 years and have yet to find a humane way to remove these seals, lol

Re: Project "Steppin Wolf" LS swap

sorry for slow progress guys. works kicking my rear right now. hope to remedy that soon though.... on to a few pics

got motor mounts cleaned, painted and installed

drilled, tapped, and installed nipple for steam line in water pump...

This hood latch bracket and bolt were so rusted up i had to put it in a vice and slam the wrench with a small sledge the whole way taking the nut off and the bolt out!!!! spent about an hour on the wire wheel on my grinder cleaning everything up, then painted and looks almost new!

in Glocks write up Im pretty sure he said you could unbolt this fitting on the steering pump and swap it for the fitting on the old one. I thought they were part of the pump. does anyone know for sure before I screw something up???

spending the rest of this week trying to clean up rust and just gonna hit the whole engine bay and frame with some of this rust converter for now.

Sometime down the road when I do my body work and get it painted Ill be replacing or redoing everything under the hood body color. For now I just wanna halt the rust and not put a sparkling engine into a dirty, rusty engine bay...

The P/S pump fitting is legit. It is a lot easier to do on the stand, too.

Re: Project "Steppin Wolf" LS swap

Thanks!!! I used Duplicolor engine primer followed by a few coats of duplicolor ceramic engine enamel. Aluminum on block and transmission, cast aluminum on brackets, low gloss and semigloss black on various brackets and pulleys.

Re: Project "Steppin Wolf" LS swap

Well it turns out swapping the bungs on the back of the power steering pumps was unnecessary. My old 1974 ps line screwed right into the 2006 pump. I guess some things never change lol.

Re: Project "Steppin Wolf" LS swap

Also got my fuel sender converted to AN-6 fittings. I really worry about these compression fittings leaking but there was no other way I could do it. even the local hydraulic shop couldn't make adapter lines for the connections that were on these.

As far as the vent line, should I just cap it off, or should I put some kind of filter on it?

Re: Project "Steppin Wolf" LS swap

Just in case someone didn't know how politically incorrect I am, here's a little shot of the old headliner in project Steppin Wolf. I was actually going to recover it in black vinyl but in light of recent events I think I'll just leave it the way it is.

Re: Project "Steppin Wolf" LS swap

Some luck I got! I sent the first set of plug wires back cause the straight boot hit the headers, just got the new set with 135* boots and turns out I ordered car wires so they're too short! Boxed them back up to send back but didn't want to wait on exchange so I outright bought my third and hopefully final set from summit last night and turns out they're on back order and won't ship till July 8th.

Re: Project "Steppin Wolf" LS swap

I highly recommend you cut off the tri-angular header flanges and tig weld on some stainless v-bands. Those will leak very quickly and the v-bands will give you more clearance.

The short and long wires come off Camaro and truck applications. The coil output connector is closer to the plugs one of the applications, I forget which.
