Depends what you mean by how good...
Here are the engine specs!
http://www.ehow.com/about_5494611_in...nline-six.html

They are great torquey engines. This one was just rebuilt with fresh pistons.

Re: 1980 C-10 Low buck build.

Okay, so engine is in. Needs timed properly, but its in and runs. Lots of work to do yet, but look at her

Parts truck next to it.

Primer for now guys!

Roll on bed liner soon, spray on or roll on in cab as well.

Fitment was a pain with the oil pan hitting..

But we got the engine in!!!
a Chevy 250 L6 from a 1968 chevy truck.

The exhaust on mine is a 2.5".

For a inline 6, you should have 1 2.5" for the whole exhaust, if its split headers, then 2 2" pipes would be fine.

Re: 1980 C-10 Low buck build.

So I've got to ask.... You mentioned using flux core wire when you filled the gas door holes up. How did that go? I've got a ton of patching to do and am debating getting a gas kit first. But if I get gas, I'll have no money for patch panels and other stuff... So what was your experience like? Did you get a good hold without too much fuss? I expect there was a lot of grinding, but it looks pretty good so far!

Using the flux core went pretty smoothly as long as the patch is the exact same size and you just tack all the way around alternating sides to let the patch cool. Not too much grinding either due to the tack welds.

Re: 1980 C-10 Low buck build.

took the engine out after finding out that there are 2 different throwout bearing carriers, short(1 1/4") and long (1 7/8"). we had a short adn we had it in there with the diafram type pressure plate when we needed the long. its almost all the way beck together now, its list the little stuff now like starter wires. another hour of work and she will be on the road for a test drive
