Was there always metal Vin Tag

I am planning on going to look at a truck from USA that has never being registered in Canada and was sent a picture of the Vin Sticker and a number on the frame

My question is

was there some trucks with stickers or weren't they all tagged with a metal plate

Thank you

To the best of my knowledge all of the '67-'72's had metal VIN tags on the inside of the drivers door jamb. If you are talking about other years, I don't know.... There is a sticker on the inside of the glove box door that also has the VIN on it along with a list of options that the truck had.

Sounds like it could have a reissued VIN from the local DMV

I restored a 37 Plymouth truck and it's vin was inside the cowl side panel and on the frame toward the rear. None where we are use to seeing them

Re: Was there always metal Vin Tag

That's the door sticker. There should be a VIN tag on the door jamb too. Ask the seller to email you a picture of the VIN tag.

To clarify - the VIN tag is on the cab side of the door jamb. That sticker that you showed is on the door. When the door is closed the door sticker and the VIN tag are almost across from each other, with the sticker being on the door and the VIN tag being on the cab.

I've never seen a door label like that but it looks like the numbers match. I guess it would be OK. Are there any small holes in the door jamb anywhere?

Leon, I think the door stickers started in 1971. My 71 Blazer has it, my 71 pickup and 72 pickup both had them.

Re: Was there always metal Vin Tag

Actually after a little 67-72 board research it started before 1971, I am not sure what year they started.

Why not see if a board member is close that can check it out? Plenty of board members have checked trucks out for others.

No, all 67-72's in the US have the metal VIN tag too. That's the one that is on the cab. The sticker you posted is on the door, not the cab.
