Re: 1980 C20 Crew Cab Build Up

Well I made a road trip today to pick up some panels that I had ordered.

SUV hatch full of parts. There are floor pans is this pic but unfortunately they're going to go back since they are wrong.

New cab corners.

2 of 4 reg cab rockers that we are going to alter to fit my crew cab. Yes, I know it would be easier to just get crew cab rockers but, the quality was not up to my friend Tylers standards so we got 4 reg cab rockers for the price of 2 crew cab rockers.

Re: 1980 C20 Crew Cab Build Up

I assume you came into Edmonton for those eh? AMP Panel on yellowhead?

If you ever need a part picked up and run out Id be happy to do it for you. I live in Edmonton but spend most of my free time in Vermilion (when I get free time), so if i am headed out its no big deal.

I just sold my truck for a jetta so its not much use, but you never know.

Re: 1980 C20 Crew Cab Build Up

Well it was -9 celsius here today so I decided to start tearing the interior out of my truck today.

The front seat is out.

Started to tear down the driver side door since I have to replace it.

Rear seat is also out.

Tore the front section of the carpet out. I would of tore the rear section out but the front lower seat belt bolts are seized so that stopped me from removing it.But all the other belts are out.

Re: 1980 C20 Crew Cab Build Up

Well some more panels showed up yesterday. My correct floor pans are now here.

The remaining 2 reg cab rockers are now here as well.

My cab supports were supposed to be here too but they were left behind. I'll pick the up when I go to grab my 3 new doors. I will be resuming teardown on my truck tomorrow. I will post pics once we are done the swap.

Re: 1980 C20 Crew Cab Build Up

Well I finally got a couple of my friends together to help me teardown my truck a little bit.
Here is where I left off in the fall last year.

Teardown resumes.
My friend had just finished removing the bolt that is in behind the door. He stepped away to put the bolt into the bolt bag and the fender folded over like this.

Here you can see how rotten the lower section was.

Just some random teardown pics.

My pile of scrap metal. I still need to remove the a/c condenser.

After messing with one of the seized seatbelt bolts for almost an hour we just cut the head off of it and it fell out the bottom. The rear carpet it now out.

Here is how it sits now.

Re: 1980 C20 Crew Cab Build Up

I finished stripping the rest of the interior out of the truck last night.

The front floor pans were worse than I expected actually.

The rear floor is really good. I only found one small rust hole beside the seat belt bolt hole.

I know these are very common to find but this is the very first time I've found a build sheet in any of my projects. The truck was build in Baltimore. It was sold to a dealer in Hague Saskatchewan.

Re: 1980 C20 Crew Cab Build Up

Still slowly tearing my truck down. Finished up tearing a few last things out of the interior of the truck.
Dash pad and gauge bezel are out. I'm going to fibreglass the dash pad to smooth it out. I have to replace the gauge bezel since it is all cracked and broken.

Does anyone know the exact purpose of this air chamber that attaches to the p/s kick panel?

Someone had decided to install a fire extinguisher on the rear pillar so I'm going to get rid of it.

I'm going to clean it up, fill the screw holes from the bracket and paint it.

Re: 1980 C20 Crew Cab Build Up

I'm going to be eliminating the factory A/C system since it doesn't work anyways. Where I'm from if the vehicle is equipped with something it has to functional in order to pass inspection so I'm just going to save myself the hassle and get rid of it.

Good bye compressor.

I'm going to find a non a/c donor truck to get the proper p/s pump pullet and mounting bracket.
The A/C heater box is all broken underneath so it is going away.

I'm going to clean up the firewall where it mounts before I install the new heater box.

I believe that chamber is used to open and close the fresh air vent on the P/S by using a vacuum.
