upper control arm hitting spindle

well im installing a mcgaudys disc brake kit with 2 1/2 drop spindles on a 1970 c10. The problem i am having is my upper control arm is hitting the top of the drop spindle. I've read people saying trim the upper control arm a little so it doesnt interfere but i feel like the upper ball joint isnt seating correctly in the spindle. Now i measured the widest part of the taper on the ball joint and it was around .708". I measured the widest part of the taper on the spindle and it was around .735". does this sound correct?

The ball joints im using are MOOG Part # K6024

These are the spindles :

Re: upper control arm hitting spindle

Do you have any weight on the suspension yet?

Re: upper control arm hitting spindle

When you drop the full weight of the truck down, the suspension should cycle down enough to open up the gap between spindle and control arm.

Re: upper control arm hitting spindle

I have the same spindles and I just didn't like when I jacked up the front I couldn't turn the wheels... so I fixed it by trimming the upper control a tad bit and smoothing out the top of the spindle.

Now that I have a lift in the garage, I'm happy I did this. My truck is on the lift a lot and it would be a pain if the front spindles were hitting

check it out in my photo build thread.

Re: upper control arm hitting spindle

got the same problem with my 70' - just installed my disc brake kit (McGuaghy's also) and took it down to have front end aligned- mechanic says it calls for .5 degrees camber but the best he can do is 1.9 degrees both sides- have you encountered the same issue?
