Re: Who is running LED Headlights?

I hope I don't hijack this thread, but I was wondering if there are LED headlights for 1st gen Jimmys with quad headlights? I see Halogen headlights on LMC, those are pretty bright too, aren't they? Brighter than the stock old-school lights at any rate, right? On the page LMC has for the Halogen headlights, it says they both have the dual filament bulbs, so I guess it's the harness that handles the high-low beam state? Does that mean I would have to get 4 of the headlights in this thread?

Also, my 70 Jimmy has a grille with the turn signals in it, which I believe is a Jimmy grille, and a bumper with the turn signals in it, which I believe is a Blazer bumper, and I was wondering if anyone makes off-road lights (like Hi-Lites) or fog lights that will fit the bumper rectangles?

Thanks!

edit: pic added to show signals in bumper and grille.

This photo shows one LED and one regular headlight, on dim...

I love the way the look. Can't wait for nighttime!

Re: Who is running LED Headlights?

I bought a pair of the JW 8700 today. Plug and play install except for the three screws on the retaining ring. Because of the deeper design of the LED setup I had to buy new 8-32 1" screws but that was it.
I will post pics Monday after I have them adjusted.

Re: Who is running LED Headlights?

So I aligned them this evening and tested them out on some back roads without any street or house lights. Awesome! The beam has a very focused center and also a peripheral wide-beam thing going on. Combined the two make for great side to side visibility and far-reaching light straight ahead. That price though... LEDs have improved greatly over the years but I still cannot wrap my head around why they are selling for so much right now (faddish still?). Honestly the rear of the housing has a cast aluminum look, the inner directional lenses are some sort of polycarbonate. There is an H4 attachment and an internal rectifier (anti-flicker). Nothing groundbreaking where technology or materials are concerned. Any ideas?

Re: Who is running LED Headlights?

Big Easy -

Thanks for the post. I think I'm going to jump onboard and get a set of these. Most of the other brands just look too "modern" or "space age" in my opinion for a truck of this era. However, the KCs have a very subdued, classic styling, and I really like the black band with KC logo across the lens. It harkens back to the company's long history in the offroad market.

Any updates in the last year or so? LMC has a set for $389.

Re: Who is running LED Headlights?

Now you guys just have to figure how to keep them on your truck and not in the hands of some dirtbag

Re: Who is running LED Headlights?

There is definitely more options available for the Chevrolet, which is just blatant GMC discrimination . The GMC lights are 5 3/4" opposed to the Chevy 7" and I kinda wanted to find the housing where I could replace just the bulb like newer vehicles instead of the whole thing. Somehow came across this. If this fits, it looks perfect for the GMC guys.
