Are the Cpp 2.0 drop modular spindles that much better than the regular cpp 2.5 drop to be 90 dollars higher. I don't mind spending the money if there better but will save it if there not. Okay Keith feel free to chim in please

Re: CPP spindles

I think they are trying to gain on the fact that there isn't really any competition in the modular spindle market. They are consuming less material to make them due to the fact that they don't have the large "ears" to mount the caliper, yet getting a higher retail dollar in return. Although, they also provide a better track width than most, if not all, of the other drop spindles out there. They're a great spindle, you just have to weigh out the pros and cons to see if the extra cost can be justified in your specific application. Just my 2 cents.....

Re: CPP spindles

If you plan to run big brakes such as a Baer or Willwood kit, this will be the required spindle.

Re: CPP spindles

No, the Wilwood D52 are a direct replacement for the factory caliper. They will work on regular style spindles with the caliper ears.

Re: CPP spindles

They narrow your track width by 2 1/4 " helped me with my project and the porterbuilt narrowed arms are going to help even more.

Re: CPP spindles

They are higher priced and require a "add-on" bracket for the caliper.
I like them even though I hate CPP's customer service.

Re: CPP spindles

Does the add on bracket come with them or do you have to get it seperate.

There are two add on brackets that have to be purchased separately.
One is for stock diameter rotors,... the other is for their 13" big brake rotor.
These are around $85/pair.

CPP also makes what they call their "old shcool" Modular 2" drop spindle.
Same design,... but has a built-in cast caliper bracket.
Here's the catch:
The Old School Modular drop spindles have the same part number as the old 2.5" drop spindles that they use to make.
How stupid.
If any company still has inventory of the old spindles,... thats what you will get.
Not the new Modular spindles.

Re: CPP spindles

The CPP 2.5" drop spindles,...

I don't know if these are still available or not from CPP.
But there are a ton of them on the shelves at places like Summit Racing.
How you order these or the OLD SCHOOL version is beyond me,... since they have the same part number.
Stupid, just stupid on CPP's part.

Re: CPP spindles

So i have the PB 1 inch forward arms the main advantage of the modual spindels is that they will tuck my wheels some on both sides and if i choose to go to big break later im covered.

Or i could order the 2.5 from summit and just use the wilwood D52

I dont see the add on brackets at summit I guess these have to come from CPP

I have an extra set of these brackets because they shipped me the wrong ones at first. Of course they also sent me the wrong bolt pattern hubs too. ( But I did have to return those.)

Re: CPP spindles

So I'm at the point in my build where I am ready to buy drop spindles and have been very interested in getting the CPP "Old School" spindles. But I ran ran into what lolife is talking about with the same part number I agree really dumb move on CPP's part. I have contacted Summit to confirm I would get the newer spindle but they were not much help. Anyone know where to get the new design at Summit's price?? I really don't want to take the chance and just order them from summit and get the wrong spindle.

Re: CPP spindles

I believe that the old school spindles are just 2 1/2 " drop version of the stock spindle but the modular spindles narrows the track width by a total of 2 1/4". I got the drop spindles with thier grand slam package but later had to order the modulars when I discovered my tires were going to rub my fenders. The narrowed control arms from porterbuilt is giving me an added inch per side. The old Ford body is much narrower the the 72 Chevy.

P.S. does anyone know how to access an album on here? I had one but can't seem to find it.

Re: CPP spindles

Thanks you for the reply Reyals.. That is exactly what i was wondering, but what year spindles did you order because my 67 has a complete crossmember swap from a 73-87 year truck. And i am hoping that their stock of those spindles is the "new" style.
