Re: What is this for?

if I'm looking at your picture correctly, clutch linkage.. it gets a boot as it deflects slightly when it strokes..

ETA; relative to the floor mat button, looks more like speedo grommet.. can't remember exact size but it was big enough for the nut to slide all the way down to the trans, after I installed it the first time

and assuming you're working on a 62, maybe clutch linkage routes differently?

left to right in my '65 4spd picture, brake cable, speedo cable, clutch rod..

hope that helps, good luck!

Thats the speedo cable hole. The clutch hole is egg shaped.

Re: What is this for?

Thank you for the responding. I got the truck as a non running project so I never realized the speedo cable is missing. I guess I need to find a speedo cable once I get it back on the road.

Re: What is this for?

Looks like your missing a couple of holes. There could be good reasons for that I couldn't speak intelligently about that, but I'm sure there are people on here who could. Unless of course they were plugged and it was repainted.

Re: What is this for?

The '60-'62 Chevy's and '60-'63 GMC's have hydraulic clutches so there is no hole in those floors for a clutch linkage rod. I'm thinking it is for the speedo cable.
