New here and need some help

I am new here and need some assistance, bought a 67 C10 stepside, I am in the process of redoing it for my gal. As i am tearing it down getting stuff cleaned up and some sent to powercoat, i noticed some discrempencies in the frame, # 1 the bumper horns were cut off and a roll pan install so got some frame horns and a bit different

2nd where the core support was bolted to the fram and not riveted was lower and back than original position at top of frame, and it had cab type bushings, my frame does not have 4 bolt holes or rivets to hold core support bracket on it has 3 2 on top and one in the center

found a frame number on drivers side top in front of motor mount brackets H152189

It is a coil spring rear frame. i want to make this right just trying to figure out what i got so i can go from there. i was told by a friend who is on here that you guys can help.

Thanx Mike

Re: New here and need some help

All I know is that the '67 core support bracket sits higher than the later models. It uses a thinner bushing (rubber mount) than the later ones (67 & 68 are the same)

don't know about the 3 vs 4 rivets, do know the 69 & up use 4.

Some guys here have a lot more knowledge about this than I do.

Welcome to the board Mike.

Looks like someone swapped the core support brackets to the '69-'72 style. they sit lower and that is why the thicker '69-'72 bushings were used. The holes are also larger on the '69-'72 brackets. Is there a divot in the frame where the steering box bolts up or is the box shimmed out to clear the frame rail? Picture?

You may also have a later core support.

If the holes are there just bolt the new brackets on with grade 5 bolts.

Re: New here and need some help

so my thinking is someone put a earlier frame under the body, do not have the divet for power steering box and the core support bracket mounting holes (3) are just like my buddies 62.

There has to be significant frame markings/identifiers on a 60 - 66 frames that are different from a 67 - 72.

i know someone out knows the answer

Thanx Mike

Re: New here and need some help

Does the stamping (H152189) match your title VIN in any way? With that asked...I do not believe the 67 - 72 trucks had an "H" in them. Maybe an "N"?
