84 C10 Frame Powdercoat Question

I'm planning on sending an 84 short bed frame out for powdercoat. Should I remove the front suspension crossmember and have that coated as a separate part?

Any advice before I send it out would be appreciated.
Thanks

Re: 84 C10 Frame Powdercoat Question

I powder coated my frame and I removed all the crossmembers except for the rear xmember (which I should have) and had them powder coated separately. That way I wouldnt have any rust under those areas. But I didnt removed every riveted piece, such as the body mounts and leaf spring hangers. Looking back I should have done that. Other than those two items everything was removed and then bolted back on.

I cant tell you yet because I have not driven the truck yet. But I am not happy with the lower a arm shock mount placement. It puts the shock on a weird angle which makes it hard to even get the shock bolted it. I will eventually cut the lower mount off and relocate it myself so its how it should be. If i was to do it all over again i wouldnt get my kit from them. I would get something made in house.

Re: 84 C10 Frame Powdercoat Question

When I had the one I'm working on powder coated, I pulled the front cross member off, and had all the front suspension coated separate.
