Rear suspension question

I have a 72 c10 with a leaf spring suspension and I broke the upper shock mount stud on the passenger side whilst changing the shock. I cannot find a replacement for it as most of these trucks came with coils spring suspension. I also need a u bolt for the rear end. They have flat tops, not typical to the leaf spring setup. Does anyone know where I can get these parts? I have checked the usual places, LMC, etc. nobody has what I need. I tried to attach pictures, but it won’t let me. Thanks for any help.

Welcome to the board.

I can't help on the parts location but as far as the pictures, if you are getting a "Security Token" message, that means that your pictures are too big. I size all of my pictures down to 1150 pixels wide and the board software can handle them from there. You can do that in any image editing software.

If you go to the 67-72 classified forum you may find something there. You can't post a "Want To Buy" but if you see something you need for sale you can buy it. If you become a "Premium" member you can post a WTB in the classifieds.

Re: Rear suspension question

What I've done for rivets is punch the center of your broken stud, drill an 1/8" pilot hole, switch to 1/4" for about 1/4" deep, then use a hammer drill on hammer mode with a pointed chisel. It should pop right out. The other option is to just keep drilling larger.

You can find individual U-bolts from various online stores. You'll need to measure width, depth, diameter, and thread pitch.

Re: Rear suspension question

I rotated mine up into the higher hole when I lowered my leaf spring truck. I/m pretty sure I used a ‘69 Camaro multi-leaf spring rear shock mount. I had some in a box from my car when I put caltracs on it. Worked perfect to make shock more vertical and replace the worn stocker.
