1970 C10, loose steering wheel. Not float while driving or play in steering while driving. Would attach a video if I could but I don't know how. The problem is the steering wheel itself. It's loose. I can grab it with two fingers and jiggle it. It looks like I could probably just pop off the horn cover and tighten up something but I'm not sure what's under there and I don't want to start to pull things apart and not be able to drive it.

Pull the horn button and check. That wheel comes off you won't be driving you will be riding. Not Good

There is a bearing at the bottom and a bearing at the top of the column. There is also a large flat washer and spring at the bottom of the column to preload those bearings. The bearings are available if you need them. Have a look at this.

^^ What he said. As soon as possible.....

No problem pulling the horn button off, just try to pull it up evenly, don't cock it to one side. I think it takes an 11/16" socket for the nut.

Mine was the same way, pulled the wheel and the bearing was bad. Got to checking and the bottom bearing was gone completely. I bought a new repo tilt column and in the process of installing that now. Looks like an easy fix now that the column is out.

You can probably buy a non tilt column cheaper than you can fix yours. If the wheel nut is tight I would think it won't get any worse very soon.

I would check the nut first. Sometimes people pull the steering wheel and don't get the nut tight. With time it works loose.

I don't think it will be a EZ fix BUT check the nut first. Please let us know.
