I can give you numbers for a 4x4. What rear gears and are you towing and if so how much? I'd think you could add 1-2 mpg for a 2x4.

the biggest thing we need to know is what rear gears does it have?

Re: any idea what kind of gas mileage to to expect?

I've seen this a lot on other forums. Expect 12-13 around town and 15-16 on the highway (all unloaded). There didn't seem to be much of a difference for 2 or 4 wheel drive. For comparison my 5.3L z71 averages around 14 and I get 17.5-18 on the highway.

Re: any idea what kind of gas mileage to to expect?

thanks to everyone that has replied to this thread, but I decided not to get the truck that i originally made this post for. I instead bought the truck in my signature.

Re: any idea what kind of gas mileage to to expect?

Congrats. I have the same thing but 2001 and a 2500hd. I am looking into a Blackbear custom tune, reportedly nets 1-2 mpg improvement.

Re: any idea what kind of gas mileage to to expect?

I'm planning to do some fuel milage modifications here and there through this summer. This weekend i plan on putting the E3 spark plugs in, because about a month ago i put a set in the wife's car and it picked up 5 mpg. So we'll have to see what kind of gains i get out of them in this truck. I'll try to keep everyone posted.

Re: any idea what kind of gas mileage to to expect?

Please do not put E3's in anything. They are a complete gimmick and cause nothing but trouble. Stick with normal AC delco's.

I have actually been running a set of E3's in my wife's car for a couple of months now and had no issues what so ever.

I actually had to change plugs and wires due to a light miss that was developing and went ahead and put the E3's in. I've already noticed almost a 4mpg gain.

Re: any idea what kind of gas mileage to to expect?

That gain is probably not due to those plugs but the fact it doesn't have bad/worn out plugs in it and miss anymore. Compare your mpg with the E3's to any other new plug and I doubt you'd see any difference. Either way good luck and keep us posted if you do net mpg improvements in the 1500hd.

Re: any idea what kind of gas mileage to to expect?

Can anyone tell me if the G-Force performance ECU chip will help me get better gas mileage on my 2003 Sierra 1500 SLT HD Crew cab 4x4 with 6.0 liter engine. I presently get 12.3 miles per gallon average economy.
I have a fiberglass cap on this truck.! 6.5 box.
