crooked bed
I have noticed that a lot of square bodies , like mine, have a problem with the beds being uneven. When you look at mine from the rear, the left side of the bed sags lower than the right. my first idea was a bad shock, so I changed them but that did not fix the problem. Now I am thinking maybe a week leaf spring on that side. Since that seems to be a common problem,I figure you guys may have seen and fixed it before.Any ideas?

Mine is the same way. I don't think they paid to much attention to spring consistency on these trucks. My old 78 was the same way too.
I'm going to try and remove a leaf from the higher side at some point.

Yep - they did that right from the factory (we called it "box lean").
About once a year we'd have a big science experiment to try and fix it, but we never did. I'd just make a small spacer and stick it between the leaf spring and axle on the low side. K

hehe, mine leans the same way... but... I have a flipped rear axle, The spacer trick won't quite work or me... any other nity fixes you got up your sleeve Keith?

Thanks..at first I thought it was because my poor old truck was a little on the wore out side, but I have seen a few trucks fixed up ,even in magazines with the same problem.

Yea mine is the same way. Over an 1"!! Torque!!! Okay, not really my truck was rolled before I bought it. I hope to level it with lower 4" leafs and c-notch. I run traction bars too. I may just have to live with car-lean!

man!!! i gotta show my auto teacher this!! i was asking him why my truck sits lower on the drivers side and he just thinks its becuse i lowered the truck.glad its just not my problem

mine was real bad and it was because the cross rails on the bottom of the box were rotted through......
every time i hit a bump the back driverside of the box jumped up about 4"

Here's a simply way to fix it... the way I did mine anyways. I added washers between the floorbed and the frame itself. Remove the most aft bolts and add them... simply and quick.

I never knew that. My 88 had some really bad gangsta lean and my buddys 95 S10 did the same. I shimmed everything out and figured that the trucks had both been in accidents or somthing.

The washers between the bed and frame does work, i did it to mine about two years ago and it still sits straight.

I know this is an extremely old thread but I just set my bed on my truck after doing the frame off resto and its about 1" lower on the driver side rear. It lines up with the cab within prob 1/4" but the back of the bed is lower from side to side 1". I had myself convinced I bent something while it was apart.

Yeah, I got the Gangstah lean on my bed as well. I've been thinking of doing the washers between the rail and the bed in order to try to fix it.

It's funny I have seen this on other trucks but mine does not show any signs of it but I am thinking it may have to do with the two sets of overloads on the truck

On mine I thought it was because of the fat guy behind the wheel and the gas tank being mounted on that side.
