I've been having some issues getting my cigarette lighter to work, could someone help me with how it is supposed to me wired

As far as I can remember on my truck its only one positive wire from fusebox and then grounded in chassis in the dash

Thats correct, and then there is also a positive for the light that goes on the lighter. But the unit is self grounding.

There's a mystery there. Ive seen both the Illuminated and Non-Aluminated.

Really? I never knew they made a non-illuminated version. I have 2 OEM lighters, both have the light. Both of mine are the Deluxe versions though. Is it possible that standard lighters didn't have the light maybe?

Casco suppiled the lighters to GM I think. Will have to investigate this more.

Perhaps to clarify the housing aluminates via a grey wire like the dash lights.

Theres an NOS one on Ebay for $200. When your looking at a parts truck always look at the Fuse box. If it has jumpers coming out of it there should be a few electrical goodies on it. Like the glove box/ dispatch light.

I have an extra socket w/the light i think argonaut....let me look when I get home. And I agree with the casco manufacturer aerotruk63...all my lighters have casco on them.

Then I must be a huge nerd, my pulse races when I find accessories on a truck or on Ebay. I was speechless, then depressed, when I found an original rear sliding window that wouldn`t ship international. It worked out through connections to finally get it, but man, was I a mess waiting for delivery.

I just ordered and received a cigarette lighter and thought it would be 1 wire to connect. I was wrong. It has 2 wires and 3 connectors.

I know this is an old thread but I wanted to thank aerotruk63 for the photos above. I would have connected the wire that goes to the light to ground.
