c-30 Battery

Not sure if this is right forum section. I see a "bigger than C-30" Forum and this one. Please forgive any transgressions. I just bought a C-30 dump a few weeks back. The P.O. has an oversized battery dangling in the battery box. Any ideas where I could get a modern one to stuff in there that actually fits. I know I had similar issues on my '63 Fleetside. Thanks folks.

Yeah, this is the right section in the forum.

Do you have a Costco near you?

They are building one here close to me.
I hear that they sell batteries.

Re: c-30 Battery

Micmac, a Group 24 battery fits the stock tray, maybe others. Not quite sure what you mean by [I]dangling[I]. Is the battery too big?

Canadien Tire says this one works. 127 USD. It's a 5 minute drive from here is customs isn't busy. I bought a battery for my 2500 Diesel back in the winter here in Maine, over $250 USD
If y'all have suggestions I'm all ears.

Yes, dangling by bungee cords, about 2 inches longer than the tray. Thanks for prompt reply!

Closest COSTCO is in Canada, 60 miles from here in Saint John New Brunswick. I used to live near Mountain City in NC until I moved up here

Re: c-30 Battery

I used to get them at Walmart also.

I try to support my Local Mom and Pop auto store now a days,
That is the only reason I don't still get them at Walmart.

They had the highest price for the core return price.

Re: c-30 Battery

I try to do that as well. Up here though it seems they have a "We got em by the short and curly's so we will charge whatever" attitude. I'm thinking they didn't get the memo about online shopping. It virtually is a 2 hour drive to any city large by Maine standards. Really try and I do not shop in Chi-Com Mart.

I caused myself a whole world of hurt once because of this...

OP, go buy one from o'reillys or Autozone, they're open 7 days a week for 12+ hours, and I have had great luck with their battery's lasting.

Re: c-30 Battery

I've found that the auto parts store is about the most expensive way to buy a battery. Look for an independent battery dealer. Around here I use Ellis Battery. Way cheaper than the auto parts store.

Re: c-30 Battery

Thanks Guys. I'm not up to speed on these newer trucks, I'm used to my '63! I got lots of questions. The more I mess around with this truck, the more I like it. It's never going to be a beauty queen like my C-10, but it is certainly going to help with the chores around here on the property. I always got wood to cut, gravel to haul, and landfill trips. I will be asking lots of questions.

Yeah but you pay for convenience. Some of the local battery places aren't even open on the weekends, and if you get stuck on a trip out of town, that's the end of it. I can break down in any town with an autozone and get a free battery for 5 years.

Obviously if someone doesn't want the added convenience, then go cheaper.

Re: c-30 Battery

Group 24 for top post and 74 for side post. Those combo post batteries will do just fine as well. If it's a 10 inch battery it'll likely fit as along as the post orientation is typical GM and not the opposite Ford/Toyota style.
