Re: Project NOT4SLE

Any word on tie rods? AutoZone has a set but they are Duralasts. Did you call Tuckers or that other place...Premier I think.

Re: Project NOT4SLE

Carquest stocks all Moog Tie rods. Their "house" brand is all Moog stuff, not cause some moron told you but because it also says on the box.

Anyways I returned my Moog stuff to Checkers, found some in stock at Carquest and got them.

Got home and got back to work on the truck... and guess what she is done!!! Well, for now... back on the road. Wont be driven until Monday after an alignment though.

Well I could blab and blab but you all want to see pics. Im waiting on Nate from Porterbuilt to get me my other piece I need to raise the rear an inch. Hopefully he comes through soon. I need that inch.

The rear seems way more "unlevel" then it is as the upper white/blue line slopes downhill compared to the body lines....

Well here you go

All steering cross shafts, and ball joints are Moog

Just wondering about your tie rod connections to the center link, should they not be on the back side of the center link? not the front? or are my eyes playing tricks on me?

Re: Project NOT4SLE

Like Normy71 said,... the center link is on backwards. You need to swap it "end for end" so the inner tie rods will connect on the back side of the centerlink.
Member Mondo had this problem and it eventually broke the inner tie rod due to contact with the center link.
The ends of the centerlink should point forward, not backwards.

Otherwise looks killer.

Re: Project NOT4SLE

looks good.....but I think it needs to drop in the front a little more or bring the back up a little...(.I like the lower in the front a little better)

Keep it up...

Re: Project NOT4SLE

Once you get that stance figured out - Watch Out

I wonder if just the 1" raise in the back is going to be enough???

It looks like you have a bit of room in the front to drop her some more. Do you? Keep us posted, maybe once you get your part from Nate it will be where you want her! Looking good.

I'm voting on "raising the rear" about 2" and PAINT THOSE DRUMS!

Did you hit that muffler coming off the driveway?

I thought the same thing on the center link. but I really saw no way of anything fitting the other way around. The tie rods seemed to hit the crossmember when put the other way around.

I guess Ill have to look at it again

Ya, its a 4.5" drop in front which his what everyone does with this tire size. mine for some reason seems a tad high still.

the muffler was to put something on after doing the rear suspension as the muffler had to be cut off. So it works for now!!!

Re: Project NOT4SLE

Yep, centerlink on backwards. Here is a pic of mine after the rebuild.

I found I had to rotate the centerlink side to side to fit the tie rods on and they are close but about a 1/4" away from the crossmember when centered. As you move left or right, the centerlink moves away from the crossmember. That is also why the inner tie rods have the grease fittings on the end and not the back like the outer ones.

Looking good!!!! I'll have to come by next time I'm in Vegas.

Ill switch it around tomorrow. I tried and tried an it seemed like nothing was going on with it the other way around. I was certain it went this way. So I was like maybe it goes the other way and it mounted right up. Could not find any pics on the board when I looked...

Time to remove cotter keys and get it switched... lol

no, I got out of work and went to breakfast that lasted till noon. sitting around like that all morning after working all night pretty much makes me ready for bed. LOL

Tomorrow I will fix the steering and I am also thinking about remving the front springs and removing about 3/4 of a coil back towards the end of the notch. Im not sure this will remove much height but maybe 3/4" maybe... anyone know?

hopefully I get my piece from Porter soon as it is I think I am rubbing to much to drive it.

unless anyone has some 4" drop springs they want to trade for 5" drop springs as i have 5" in there now

1/2 COIL = 1" of drop.

I would start with 1/2 coil first.
Bolt it back together without shocks and set it on the ground.
Just make sure the top of the spring is in the spring pocket.
Let the bottom go wherever it goes.

What exactly is rubbing?
Too much backspace on the wheels?
Do you have the 2" drop or 3" drop on your Porterbuilt trailing arms?

All the arms as far as I know are identical. The difference in the drop comes with a spacer provided for on top of the coil for the 2" drop and 3" drop you just use the arms no spacer for the coil.

I currently have 3 extra" of drop along with a 5" drop spring. I need to be around 7"

With my tire combo it is perfectly centered in the wheel well however it will still touch both sides of the tub under load.

im going to cut just over 1/2 coil off today on the front to get it where I want it I hope and then ill raise the rear to get clearence
