Re: Got a nice classic boat 1979

Reminds me of the Glastron Carlson CV16 I use to own. It was from the same era. Ended up replacing all the wood (floor, stringers and transom) but it was a fun little boat.

Re: Got a nice classic boat 1979

you know that a boat is just a hole in the water that you dump money into!!!!, ha ha, I had a 1970 Glastron with a mercruiser I/O inline six, loved that boat, but the transom wood rotted out, I had the boat stored outside...hated to junk that boat.....love the looks of your boat!

Re: Got a nice classic boat 1979

u can cut the old one out from the inside and renew, u should have kept it.

makes me wonder why they even use wood, new technology these days we can use light aluminum,
also there's these new prefab stringers ,just lay them down over peanut butter epoxy bond and glue.

my deck floor is rotted needs all replaced though, first i need to go round the boat and check, so far the hull is in brilliant shape, transom on mine is ok solid.

and when spring weather comes in a float test before repairs.

yeah, wish I would have kept it and fixed it...would look good behind my 72, a friend gave me his old 75 Enterprise 18' boat, it is the inline six mercruiser also, it needs new interior but the wood is in good shape, not as cool as that old Glastron though....

I love the old Glastrons. I had a 1973 Glastron Carlson CV-19 SS with Olds 455 and Berkley jet drive. Very fun and fast boat.

Re: Got a nice classic boat 1979

Tracks thru just fine. And never a bumpy ride.(seats so far back)
A bit sketchy at high speeds in rough water though
My wife saw it on the side of the road. For sale or trade
Maherajah is a waterski maker from the late 60's that is still in Bussiness
They only made 2 of These in the 80's
The other one was black

Re: Got a nice classic boat 1979

Friend of mine built a 15' jet boat back in early 90's. Ford 390 for power. He made it out of plywood. He said it was wicked fast. I've been tempted to try making one myself

Nice boat! I like the older boats and I'm not even a boater....

Here is a picture of member Bradman72's boat. He brings it to the "All Truck Nationals" in Riverside, Missouri every year in September. He even won the blind man's race one year pulling the boat, full of people....

Re: Got a nice classic boat 1979

Cool looking classic boat. I remember the Glastron name, along with Chris Craft, Evans, Owens, Yellow Jacket and many more. My Dad used to build custom boats for a living when I was a youngster. Biggest he ever built was a 26' cabin cruiser. I remember him laying out the plans for it on the living room floor with Mom's help. In the early 60's we had a 1947 mahogany planked Garwood with a mid ship inboard Chrysler marine engine. Varnished deck and hull with the white stripped wood deck, twin rear deck masts. 17 footer, a "Corvette Classic" in the boating world. Wish I knew how to do a link, would provide a picture. In today's world it would have to be a $50-$60 K classic. Dad sold it when we moved from Seabrook, Tx to Wichita, Ks in '64. Used to take it out into the Gulf of Mexico far enough you could just barely see the shore on the horizon.
