Well I thought maybe if I put a build thread up I might get my ass in gear.
Its a medium olive stripper model 71. Here is a pic the day I brought her home in june of this year.

Here is the donor 72 I picked up a month later, I was going to just swap the tubs, but the 71 is not "as bad" as I first thought. Im just going to cut up the 72 and use the exterior panels.

Over the past month I have fixed the wiring from the PO's. Its running and charging good now, but I think the cam might have a few wiped lobes. One of the PO's swaped the six/3OT combo for a 8/turbo 350. One thing I noticed after looking at a few C10's is during the swap they put the engine in the rearmost position, which I like, there is still clearance behind the hei. Last week I picked up a new truck floor from a local supplier. Last night I started cutting out the "good" side of the floor.

Plans are to get rid of the holes in the floor, fix up the interior and drive it.
Over the winter its getting bagged.

I actually got some things done the past few weekends.
Got some of the floor cut out. Got the auto column put in out of the donor, put a new masterpower unit in.

If this was a 100point restoration, would I have to recreate the factory paint runs? ha

I sure wouldn't! I always hate when someone says, that they want it perfect, like it was when it was new. My response is usually something along the lines of, "you must not be very fussy are you?!" LOL!!

Nice! Make sure the outside leading edges of the toe area, right where the pan meets up to the factory seam, is straight with the rest of the pan. When i installed the prototype on their truck i had to fool with that area. It was an area about 6-8" long....maybe they fixed it once it went into production, told them to

I am kind of concerned with fitment of the panel. I have left what is not rusted off of the original alignment features. Any way you can circle an image of the floor where you are reffering to? I have an idea its around the toe patch that I have put in. I should have the panel in by new years. Just measured the bench seat mounts and see they are not in the right spot for the buckets (in towards the center about 1.5"). so now I have to relocate them.

Understand, the panel I have does not look to bad in that area, but wont know until I get it in there, kinda bummed the seat mounting holes where in the wrong spot, killed my momentum yesterday.

As long as its straight in that area, youre good to go....can you find the square nuts and weld them in to fix the seat location problem?

Yeah but, look at it this way....you have a rust free floor going back in. Alot of people would like tohave that floorboard

Yeah but, look at it this way....you have a rust free floor going back in. Alot of people would like tohave that floorboard

Yep, I think complete floor was the way to go, pretty sure the factory was 18 ga. the triplus parts are 1.2mm. The triplus rocker boxes I bought are super thick. Im just going to drill the spot welds on the seat mount plates and move them over to the blazer locations. I would have thought for sure gm would have made bench and buckets use the same outer holes, but I guess not.

Good idea on moving the plates...tri pro has always treated me good on parts...

Over new years I got the floor all prepped and put in. What a PITA, took forever to get the seat bracing cut out and positioned in the new pan. I cut/formed the rear of the pan almost exactly like the old floor was.

Managing the whole floor in one piece by myself was a chore, but its done.

Got a little discouraged, my dad sent a CL link to a nice looking 72 white 2wd in SC. His asking price was less than what I have wrapped up in this one. I called the day after the ad was posted and it was gone.
