Got a bit more done this weekend. I have got to get my but in gear to get this thing done. My goal is to have it ready for a local car show Easter weekend

I set up the front fenders so you could drive the truck 1' off the ground(mostly for safety). I was able to get about 90% of the full turning radius without making contact with the inner fender. Thanks to Accuair I will be able to program that height into my presets.(this picture is with the frame 1'off the ground)

I did a quite a bit of research on air management and talked directly with accuair at SEMA last year. With the ride height sensors, programable heights and ride monitoring it only made sence. I have put a lot of time into trying to get the geometry rite on this truck and this system is the best way to know everything is in its place consistently . Luckily I bought this system about a year ago when the dollar was slightly higher. I also got it from KMS tools which is a Canadian company so the shipping and brokerage was a bit better.

Got a lot done this weekend.finished getting the motor buttoned up and got it set in place. Also changed the pinion seal and got the diff back in. Definitely a lot more room in the garage now. Dad also did a lot of work on the inner fenders and they are now in primer.

Been a while since i have posted anything but that does not mean i have not been busy. It took a few weeks for my final big order of parts to come in and i did not have a hole lot to do. I decided to start looking at the wood for the bed and cut and drill the support straps.Finally the parts came in and got the new shifter installed and started dressing the motor as well as a few other things.

Truck looks awesome. Are you reusing the original A-arms or did you get new ones with dropped spindles? Original rear end as well? Great inspiration for my build. Thanks for all the great pics. Should be on sweet ride when you are done with it.

The front crossmember is from a 74 truck as is all of the steering linkage and power steering box. I had to make a couple of modifications for clearance on the a arms. The rear end is original to the truck. It is 1 1/8 inch narrower then trucks with disk brakes up front( I think 70 was the year it changed from drum to disk). I also got conversion axles for 5x5 bolt pattern.

Awesome work! I love seeing someone build their own notches and suspension components too. Gives motivation to those of us who don't want to drop huge $ on prebuilt setups (although I do admit, they sure would be nice to have).

Thanks for the reply. I am now thinking that I will use the 86 1/2 ton frame I have for my build. I have a 64 that I want to lay frame with. Can you please describe what modifications you made to your front suspension. It looks like you cut down the cross member. Did you do anything to A arms etc. Use dropped spindles. Thanks for the advice. 👍

It will cut 3/16 steel but it is a little on the slow side. Could use a bit more power. It most definitely beats using a cut off wheel. Try keeping a fresh tip on it and make templates out of 1/4 inch board that are slightly smaller than the finished product. I also put some extra air dryer pellets on the supply as well. It was a great investment.
