calling anybody thats gone from 73-80 to 81-87 front end

Does anybody have a picture of the hood hinge
i was told by a few members here that i would have to cut some metal
to get the 81-87 body style to work
like the firewall I guess? for the hood hinge or springs

Little of topic. I went the other direction from a 86 to a 78. Have anything of the front clip you want to get rid of?

Please keep this on topic and refrain from turning it into a Wanted to Buy/For Sale ad.

Don't worry about it. Each one has their own taste. I used the link above to convert mine to a 91. Mine is an 83.

Notice the differences?

I'm the only person known that has ram air setup with an 81-82 bumper.

Re: calling anybody thats gone from 73-80 to 81-87 front end

I'll try to get pictures of mine for you tonight. Mine doesn't have the front cowl screen between the hood and windsheld, so you should get some good detail from it. Fair warning, however, it looks pretty hacked up, it looks like it may have been cut with a stick welder, or at best scenario, a torch.

It was done by the previous owner, so I can't really give you any details on the swap process, but I can certainly take pictures of what I have!

Re: calling anybody thats gone from 73-80 to 81-87 front end

I apologize, I didn't get the pictures last night, got a lot on my mind. I will try to get pictures tonight.

While we're on the subject, what are the other difficult issues involved with this swap? I know the front horns need to be trimed down, is there anything else that I should be taking pictures of?

Re: calling anybody thats gone from 73-80 to 81-87 front end

How about the radiator support location, I have heard that you have to move it 2 inches forward or backwards, do I have to drill new holes or will they already be there, how doea the cowl mount, since I know it has different hole locations do I just drill holes for that too

Re: calling anybody thats gone from 73-80 to 81-87 front end

Again, let me remind you that I didn't do this conversion, so I don't have any details on what it takes.

Here is a good photo of the hinge cutout area. You can see that my hinge has been welded on, I don't know if it's more common to drill holes and bolt it on. My hood sits a hair higher than the level of the fenders, which I might fix someday but not today.
