steering column spring

I am getting ready to rebuild my steering column and need to find the large spring that is at the bottom of the column. It is above the gear selector lever ( automatic column ). It looks to be about 2 1/2" in diameter. I don't know how long because it is rusted in half. Any body have or know of one?

Well, because I didn't read the first post close enough I sent BigBird the wrong spring. After checking, I can't seem to locate any extras like he needs in my parts stash. There are actually 2 springs in that location, one fits inside the other. Here is what he needs in case someone can help him out.

Sorry for the confusion on my part.....

Re: steering column spring

Lock Doc, Logical mistake, no problem. After studying the problem some more. I deduced that the bad spring looked a lot like a starter solenoid spring. It took me a couple of days to find a donor starter. After tearing it apart it is indeed the the same size. It might be a little stiffer but I can live with that. Thanks for all of the help. Some times it just doesn't work out the way we planed.

OK, glad you came up with a solution. Let us know how it works out after you get it together and installed.
