Hinges dont line up?

My dad has an 83 burb and we got a 90 and took the doors off to swap all 4 doors. The 90 hinges dont line up with the 83. What the crap?

How do they not line up? It is the same door from 77-91 on a 'burb. Do you have any pictures?

Re: Hinges dont line up?

No pics, Im not sure which dont line up. I havent seen it myself. We sent the truck with the doors to get em all switched and the guys said the hinges are different. The 83 is a GMC and the 90 is a Chevy. I doubt it matters, but I have to check.

Are the hinges mounted upside down, or on the opposite side of the vehicle by chance?

The 90 has original hinges I believe. The 83's front doors and flimsy like repops. I'll check it out sometime. I havent seen it for myself.

Re: Hinges dont line up?

the front hinges can only go on one way, as there is a bolt that goes through the cowl from the inside. Not sure about the rears, they may be the same, too.

Re: Hinges dont line up?

Are you using a complete hinge from one truck or the other or did you pull the hinge pins? If you are changing doors you may have to loosen the bolts on the body and on the door to get them lined up. It will also be easier with the hinges from one truck or the other. Usually you can leave the hinge on the body since the door bolts are easier to get to.
