My old honda...

I have two old Honda's. The bike is a 400 hondamatic 2 speed no clutch has about 1600 miles original tires. But dont have pics of it handy. But yesterday I took out my E400 genny just to start it and put a load on it. This is from the early 70's . I bought it years ago at a garage sale. Remember the days when people engraved their SS numbers onto items to identified them if they got stolen . This is marked that way. Man how things change.

It kinda the same color compo as my truck toboot.

Re: My old honda...

It weighs a lot to . About twice what a new 1000 watt Honda weighs. I've taken it to Carlisle and Hershey not to sell but my grandson gets board so he sits in the bed watching videos. And all day I get "How much for the honda?" Had a Honda power sports dealer hound ne all three days I was there. He wanted it bad for display at his shop. His final offer on Sunday 500$ and a new 1000 watt.

That is so cool.

Here it is in green; https://www.engine-specs.net/honda/generator-e400.html

That offer from the dealer would have been MIGHTY tempting, but you probably would be kicking yourself later.

You can't beat those Honda motors. I had a rototiller and a pressure washer with Honda motors on them. I wouldn't use them for months and always figured they would give me trouble starting them after sitting. But they always fired right up. They impressed me.

Funny. I collect Honda generators at least the old ones. Check out the e40. Half the size of yours. Matt

Re: My old honda...

Yeah, I remember when we were 'advised' to engrave our SS# into our things for the sake of 'security'. My X gave me an engraving tool and I never got around to it, mostly because it was her idea . Turned out to be a wise thing to do. Getting rid of her I mean . No, you know what I mean. These days that would make them steal a thing they had no interest in just for the SS#.

Every time I see the word Honda the song just pops into my head

Re: My old honda...

I'll get some pictures of the bike as soon as possible. I did have to clean surface rust from inside the tank last fall. You can get the color scheme. Used bb's and evapo-rust turning it with the grill rotisserie.

Re: My old honda...

Looks like this my dad bought it in 81 and hardly ever used it. The bike still has the blue film on the gage plastic faces and rear view mirrors on the chrome side not the glass.

I had one of those. Drove the heck out of it. It was one of my progression bikes I used to build up my street riding skill levels until I eventually got a Harley Road King
Classic.

EDIT: Just reread your description .. Mine wasn't a Honda Matic, regular ol clutch version.

Re: My old honda...

I need to find some rims so I can mount new tires and put the originals away. Just put them on when it's a static display . Like in the bed of my truck. Wouldn't trust 38 year old tires on the road.
