Wow, what a solid truck! Looks like a great start! What plans are in store for it?

Re: My 68 soon to be a 67 build pic

I am going to do a cab swap this cab has alot of rust so I bought a 1967 small back glass cab.I wan to drop it 21/2 in the front and 4 in the back.if its going to be a true 67 I think I need to change the fenders.Going to change it over to 5lug weld up all the trim holes and spray it in flat black and just drive it for a while.I hope to get my 67 cab in the body shop all it needs is new rocker welded in someone cut out the old ones but never got the new one put back in. What would be a good price for someone to weld them in??

If you're getting rid of your trim can I call first dibs? Also, what rust issues do you have with the cab?

Re: My 68 soon to be a 67 build pic

If all you want to do is drop it and prime it, I'd suggest just doing the drop and drive it as is for now. It looks pretty sweet now, as is. Then you can skip the body shop, watch for deals on a welder, take your time, and fix the other cab yourself. Get that cab perfect and ready for paint, THEN pull the truck apart.

Looks like a good start, I personally would have a hard time removing the trim and welding up the holes, as the trim is complete and looks to be in good shape... good luck with your build......

Re: My 68 soon to be a 67 build pic

Around the windshield on the inside someone tried to patch it and it just not good it leak if it rain the cab support its gone but the floor is solid if someone is looking for a cab I have a few cabs I picked up while back but they have rust.I have 2 71-72 1 67 and 71 a/c cab.The truck is a driver for now I want get the other 67 cab done and the do a weekend long swap so i can keep the truck on the road. As for the trim maybe we could do some trading on something.

Re: My 68 soon to be a 67 build pic

nice truck,

before you ditch the cab take a look at a few other builds and see what can be saved. If you really want to make it a 67 you can buy side marker light filler pieces and weld them in before you finish your body work. Don't get rid of any OEM sheetmetal if you can help it.

I agree with the trim though, I like that it's complete.

Take a look at this thread to see what a nice "patina" a 67 can make look nice.

Re: My 68 soon to be a 67 build pic

rockers only cost $30-40 in parts, you might need some other parts once they dig in though.

A body shop would probably run $250 plus I bet (without paint), hard to tell. Do you have any buddies with a mig welder?

In our FAQ section you will find "rocker replacement 101" which will show you what's involved. Do you have pics of the bad area?

Re: My 68 soon to be a 67 build pic

If those rockers aren't rusted out then keep them on for now... I would upgrade to 5 lug disc brakes, drop the truck a little, run a newer style tire and rim combo and frive that beast for awhile. I might also spend $200 for new front and rear chrome bumpers, i'm not that fond of the painted bumper. just my opinion.

Re: My 68 soon to be a 67 build pic

The cab i am talking about is a small back window thats not on the truck I am wnating to get it fixed because the cab thats on the truck now is really bad. I have a parts truck with the 5 lug rearend and frontend and it has power brake so i am goin to swap the brake parts.

Re: My 68 soon to be a 67 build pic

If you have a welder then I would do the rockers yourself. Just a bunch of plug welds so it should be doable for you. Don't install them till you get you cab on and hang the doors and fenders.

You can get a spotweld cutter drillbit to remove the old rockers.

Re: My 68 soon to be a 67 build pic

great progress.... If you have the tools, the rockers are not too hard to remove/install. Kevin posted a rocker panel 101 thread that has plenty of info on the process. Best of luck with your build.
