No problemo, I just don't have a clue what the going rate for a nice driver Camaro. If you look on Ebay the range is huge from $10k to $200k. Just curious. Anyway, your happy the buyers happy, now focus on the truck and add some more pics! You know how we like looking at pics more than reading.

Re: Some Assembly Required / build #2

Well , i kinda did a little gambling , bought this motor on gut feelings . I was driving by my neighbors salvage yard and spotted a 1991 1-ton crewcab . I pulled in to ask about it and he fired it up for me , had a knock or rattle to it . i figured it was a lifter .The block #'s are equal to the one i had in the Luv . That motor made 484 to the flywheel and 360 to the ground . It was a 2 bolt main . I put a deposit on the motor and told him i wanted it pending inspection . Today he called and said it was out . I checked the bore out and it was 4" and it had the fuel pump hole . This is a TBI roller compatible block . So i bought it . They left the pan on for me cause it was raining and they were in a hurry . Anyway got it home and pulled the pan . I got lucky 4 BOLT MAIN It had a broken piece of skirt in #3 , but the cylinder is still good . I tried to show it as best i could . It is a cast crank as you can see from the part line on #1,2 . Still on the fence about 355 or 383 . We will see coming up .

350 H.O. 330 horse crate , TH350 long , 10 bolt 8.5 2.73 posi , mustang 2 front . It has no weight over the rear axle and will spin the tires at will . I went long tail so a 7004r will bolt right in with a 3.73 gear change down the road .

Re: Some Assembly Required / build #2

Well i got the 49' back in for a couple of small things that needed to be addressed and it will be ready soon . I have been looking for a Vette for a while now and have decided i just can't pull off a C6 right now . I did sell my Trans Am and buy this C5 this weekend .
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...K%3AMEWAX%3AIT
I also scored a "show car" motor for the 67' i'll post up some pics coming up .

The C6 is an awesome car , but the 2005 ( the only can i can afford ) had a 1 year only rear diff that was weak . 2006 and up had a different assembly in them . I got it for a tad over opening bid . Cash is king . The car fax was spotless and i like the color combo . I have always wanted one ( C5/C6 ) and the only way the C5 looks right is convertible . IMO .

Low mile 2 owner car . The dealership is over in the richer part of Houston . Mostly higher end cars . They have a Mcarrien (spl?) , a Ferrari , and a load of rare exotics in the show room . Here comes the Redneck in a 4wd powerstroke , jeans and boots to buy a Vette . I don't think they believed me when i told them i was going to buy it . I dressed "comfortably" if you know what i mean . I ended up dealing directly with the owner who seems like a nice guy . I pick the car up tommorow so im sure they didn't have time to end the ad , as i made the deal late Saturday . My wife is freaking out , truck finished , Corvette , New motor being built , new wheels for her Pathfinder . She hit me up for furniture just a few minutes ago Probably gonna take a break get back on the truck (67') and find out how much damage insurance is gonna be .

Re: Some Assembly Required / build #2

Well the C5 is a great car . I have been enjoying it alot . I am trying to get the 49' odds and ends wrapped up and get that thing on the road and ready for summer . I went to Conroe and bought a driverside step fender from Conroe trucker last weekend and will be using it to fill in the spare tire well on my bed . My last one had the spare and im going to do it different this time . I did disassemble the motor and every top ring was broken . The crank appears good and the rods are nice . They will be going into a 2 bolt main with a set of 2256 forged flat tops . I had all the parts around so i might as well put this thing together for a spare . The 4 bolt main block will be getting a 3.75" stroke crank and 6" crower sportsman rods with SRP -12 CC dish to go with my GM fastburns and port matched air gap intake . Should end up around 10 to 1 compresssion ratio . I will be topping this off with a 750 double pump and either a HEI or all my MSD stuff on the shelf in the garage . XR288HR hydraulic roller and comp full roller rockers . it will also have a NOS cheater plate system . I hauled all this to the machine shop today and it is underway . I am shopping for a converter for the th400 , somewhere in the 2500 range . Prolly run a set of 50 series flowmasters . I have a local race car guy that will be doing the cab swap for me and is working me up a price now . I don't have any picture update as it has been raining . i'll get some up soon as i can . Looks like i will be doing some bracket racing with the truck and it will for sure see some street car night action .

Re: Some Assembly Required / build #2

Glad to hear you are enjoying the vette. I was just in the Houston area for a week. I did visit one of the richer areas for food, the Woodlands. There seems to be a lot of money in the northern part of the city. I didn't see many 67-72 chevs there. Nice place to visit, glad I'm back home. Keep up the good work on all your many projects.

Re: Some Assembly Required / build #2

Well the race car shop just called me and told me they are gonna start the cab swap tuesday of next week . I have to haul the chassis to them monday night . They will pull the motor and trans first and i'll pick it up . Then lift the cab and front clip as an assembly and set it on the frame with my new body bushings . I should be able to haul it home by thursday or so . I dropped the 4 bolt off at the machine shop and will be building a 6" rod 383 . SRP pistons and Crower sportsman rods . This will be baalanced and topped with my 210 cc GM fastburns and port matched RPM airgap manifold . I will top it off with a 750 double pump either a demon or an aftermarket holley like AED ,quickfuel , etc . I have all my electronics from the Luv or an HEI ready and waiting . Prolly gonna run a set of Hooker super comp big tube block huggers i have hanging on the wall for now . I promise i'll get pictures of all this coming up . Plans are to put it together with the different color factory paint and get it running and driving so i can enjoy it .

Re: Some Assembly Required / build #2

Just a little update . The weather has been horrible here with rain most of the time , so the race car shop has yet to start on the cab swap . The machine shop called and i should be close to having the block work done and ready for assembly by around 2 weeks . i have been cleaning the garage and im getting ready for final assembly . I did score these to go with the graphic equalizer and cassette deck .

Here is where it is at . I'll get some better action pics coming up as this thread is fixin to be packed with action .
