Ahhhh yes....the tear down....beware of the "might as well's"....they like to eat all of your money

....

If you are trying to remove the complete ignition, the bezel on the front side of the dash, screws off.....it should have 3 indentations....I've seen some guys make there own tool for removing it, or one of our vendors may have the tool....

Okay here is an update. Having Microfacturing on my right knee Thursday Morning the 4th of March 2010. This will put me on crutches for 6-8 weeks in addition we are trying to buy a house so guess what had to stop. Yep project Daddy's Retirement Money. Do we like that project name? Feedback will be great.

(Keep in mind this is the boy's truck he is suppose to drive when he is 16.

So here we go. Only have a 2 car garage and ain't parkin momma's tahoe out side so enlisted the help of a local storage building to store it while building it. Everything is torn down and the 84 front end cross member installed. Now we are back to looking for tools. (Sandblaster that is cheap would be helpful if anyone wants to give one to a 15 1/2 year for his birthday on the 15th of april 2010. hint hint.

) Everything has been moved to storage except the motor. Figure i can tear it down while on crutches and sitting on a bar stool.

We did however take the truck on one last ride. See below. (yep that's "Betsie" in the picture helping us out.)

Any idea on what to do on the motor. its an original 327 with only 62K miles on it. Blows no smoke and seems to have good compression (Dont know what it should be can someone let me know so I can test it.) I thought about a cam and hydralic lifters if everything is good in it. We are going to take the heads off as i suspect that it has a burnt valve from looking at the plugs if everything is good I was just thing new seals and back together again. Feedback is cool.

Thanks everyone for their help so far but It will be a bit before something changes at least with the truck. If the motor work begins I will take pics.

Since your son is going to be driving it I would just do like you were saying and change out the cam, and clean it up a bit. Nothing too radical. If you need some help with some things give some of us local guys a buzz, and we'll be more than happy to help you out!

Boy that would have been great when we lifted the cab off the truck. Dang thing weighs more than the rest of the truck.

Yeah I helped cedorris get his cab off the frame. Lucky for us though he had stripped it of everything so it wasn't too bad.

you must be an OX. Thought it was going to kill me. With the cherry picker. Then again the stability in the knee is gone so that might have more to do with.

cool build! I would just check the compression and if good I would just put a Summit cam and hydraulic kit for $80 and a HEI dist. and new plug wires. Then check out your fuel system is working good and replace if needed with a good used one. As always if he is gonna be 16, throw a good sounding exhaust and he will be set. You know it is going to be beat and pushed to its limits! If not by your son, his friends will do it for him thru him!

Go to the Dr. in the AM. Going to BEG to get off the crutches a week early. The boy found a newer model 454 with EFI suppose to have been running when pulled and has all of the EFI stuff for it. ($100.00) what you guys think. Big Block swap?

Personally dad don't like the idea but hey its his truck not mine. Right!!

Okay I will let him get it. Just hope the block is good. Plus I will need help with it. Not sure about the wiring for an EFI into the truck. It is going to get a Painless wiring kit though. Might have to get a different kit now.

Someone game to help out here from the OKie threads.

BTW Got released from the DR. today. Light duty but free of the crutches. So look out Alice we gonna start working on the truck again in about 3 weeks. (First time I'm free to work on it.

i am curently doing the same thing (father son project) mine is a 67 swb fleet though but yeah there will be some funny times and also alot of explaining and thinking but over all its fun

Okay here is an update. Off the crutches as of Weds. Testing the knee out some to see how things are going to hold up. The boy has changed his mind and wants to do the 454 EFI swap in the truck so I will be selling some of the SBC Stuff. Torker 2 intake, Mickey Thompson valve covers, 600 Edelbrock 1407 (I think I will look tonight) carb, K&N air filter and breather set, and will probably sell the 327 with only 63K on it.

however I will be waiting til we actually get the BB to list any of it.

We should be moving truck locations by the end of the month and will start working on it then. In the mean time here are some pics of my fathers showing winning (Won Starbird best in class 3 years in a row, multiple local shows as well. )

It is an original 1/2 cab Bronco done in black Lacquer with over 15 inches of depth shine in it. The other Bronco was my second 4x4 build. Converted it from full cab to 1/2. Then the Blazer was my baby. Sold it for the Bronco. Had a 400hp 350.

The stuck pic, yea never go where a truck on 40's goes when you only have 33's Made it to the bank though and then got the dif hung on a tree stump knawed dow by a beaver.
