Bags to springs - but which springs
I bought a 71 2wd Jimmy a few years ago. It was bagged at all 4 corners by PO. I'm not a bag person. I removed the front ones and now have dropped spindles and 2" drop springs. I'm about to pull the rear bags but not sure what springs to get to replace them to have the vehicle sit right. Level. Any input from anyone that has been there, done that would be appreciated.

I would purchase from a vendor that would allow exchanges just in case. Even with all the variables, I've read the springs will vary by manufacturer.
Knowing which drop spindle might help the pro's on here.

Thank you. If I could press you farther - - - . You first said 5"-6" springs, then in your second post you say 6". I have not looked into it yet, but is there a difference - 5" or 6"? I have already relocated shock mounts. Can you believe - - PO had NO shocks. The truck was unsafe/uncontrolable over 35 MPH. And do you have numbers on the shocks you used. This will open a can of worms, but I would like to be able to tow my trailer with it. Thanx again.

They are the only company that sells 6" rear springs, all the others sell 5". A member on here swapped his CPP 5" springs for ECE 6" springs and it did not lower the truck the additional 1". Some say they are the same. I actually know the blazer you purchased. Another board member on here owned it for a while. I had my blazer static dropped for a few years. First 4.5/6,... then 5.5/6. The BEST thing I did was add a bolt-in c-notch to the rear. This gave me the added axle clearance I needed to maintain a good ride with 4 people in the truck. By myself it never bottomed out,... but with people in the rear seat it did. My blazer is now on air ride. I love the ride even better. Call Stan at ECE. www.earlyclassic.com These guys don't just sell parts,... they own and drive these old trucks. They've been in business for a LONG time and all they sell is parts for these trucks. Nothing else. He will recommend all the correct shocks, shock relocators and adjustable sway track bars to get your blazer riding good! Also post up some pics of your suspension. That will help us see what you have installed now.

Thanx, and again most helpful. But, again, I have more questions. Would you care to say "which" previous owner you know so I can contact him (I bought it from a her). I've not been doin too well finding the history on this truck. Course the history has been pretty much erased. I tore out most everything and been re-doin it. Just recently got it on the road so I can enjoy it a bit. Old and poor. This is my 4th 67-72. Two pick ups, a sub, and now this. And of course the one that got away was the best
one. Again, thanx!

Not only do they sell them they use them & make them here in the US |
