Yeah I bled it on the vice, then after seeing what was going on I removed the brake lines and put the plastic hoses back on and bled it installed on the truck again?????

Thanks for the quick tour around the truck, Jason. Everything is super sanitary!! Have you worked out the brake issue yet?

Thanks Vic, I think the rod from the booster to the m/c was sticking out to far and not letting the piston come back enough. Plus I also bench bled it again while it was off. I have brakes now, just not as firm as they were

Re: Jason's 70 Big Block SWB Project

Alright guys, I've had enough!!!!
I got home from 2 weeks at work last night, my buddy came over and he messed with the timing and tuned the carb a little and everything sounded good, started good. This morning I went out to the garage at 6am and went thru my checklist before I drove it, topped off all fluids, torqued wheels, hooked up the vac mod on transmission, and double-triple checked everything. Ok, this afternoon it quit raining and the road dried off so I went for a spin. Got out to the little road here in front of my house and eased down the road and it wouldn't shift to 3rd gear. I went about 3\4 of a mile and turned around, now it seems like it won't come out of 1st gear???? I'm about to find another project and send this one down the road!!!

It did seem pretty strong, if only I could get it to the rear wheels

Re: Jason's 70 Big Block SWB Project

I'd start by checking the vacuum to the modulator. If the line is hooked to a timed port or is restricted in any way, it will affect the shift points. Also make sure the detents for the shifter arm line up. Kickdown linkage is another thing to check and perhaps the governor.

Or you can always call the guy that built it and go WTF?

Re: Jason's 70 Big Block SWB Project

I tried a few different things with the transmission not shifting and no luck. I left a message at the shop that built it on Friday, even knowing they are closed on Friday. He actually returned my call yesterday and said he would like to drop the pan and take a peak inside, or possibly the governor. He really didn't know what was going on till he looks at it. He has a very good reputation for the quality of work he does so hopefully it was just something overlooked. So anyway, I'm going to load it up on my trailer this evening and be at his shop at 7am in the morning.....

If this don't work out it may be at the Charlotte Goodguys show in a couple weeks with a "FOR SALE" sign on it!!!

When I picked up the transmission from him he said if I needed anything to let him know, I guess I need something????
We will find out in the morning, I'm going to leave around 5:30 so I should be at his shop when the doors open

Re: Jason's 70 Big Block SWB Project

I had something similar with my TH400 in my GTO when it was built about 15 years ago. Turned out to be a faulty shift modulator. The transmission shop replaced the part and everything was good after that. Some new parts are bad right out of the box. I'm sure they'll get it fixed for you.

I hope it is something simple, as bad as I hated to, I dropped it off at his shop at 7am this morning, hopefully he call with good news today, I don't want to leave it there because I'll be out of town for a couple weeks with work....
