I too prefer the deluxe lenses on this truck. Not to offend anyone who runs or prefers the van lenses, but they have always looked "stuck on" to surface of the fender (even though the screws are visible).

Hey Pops or Chad, would it be possible to get a pic of that bumper straight-on from the back? Almost, if not all of the aftermarket rear bumpers I've seen in photos have had that "frowny" arc to them. That one looks perfectly straight from the angles already shown.

I must be in the minority with the side markers. I personally put the van markers on my 71 because the aftermarket deluxe markers that were on it felt cheap to me. Especially since the chrome trim is glued on and can easily come off. Before owning a C/10, I thought they all needed the deluxe side markers since it looked so good. I don't think you can go wrong either way.

I actually prefer the standard side markers to either the deluxe or the van markers. Especially on the lower optioned trucks.

We went with van markers because of the chrome on the deluxe ones are usually bad. I actually have several repro sets and they're all about the same, those chrome rings come off easily. Maybe someone has some NOS deluxe markers they want to sell?

I agree though, they'd both fit the look of the truck. I'd be good with either I just didn't want the flimsy chrome pieces.

Has anyone who installed a Vintage Air system run into a problem with the mounting bracket that frames the heater inlet/outlet tubes? The supplied bracket in our kit doesn't look like the one in the instructions and blocks about 1/4 of the upper tube and almost 1/2 of the lower tube (photo attached). No way will the hose connections clear without grinding away the bracket openings.

I contacted Vintage Air several times last week, but as of now the problem has been handed down to engineering. What should happen is that Vintage Air send a correct bracket FedEx Overnight. Instead, we are stuck with the whole installation until we figure this out.

That's really weird. I believe they use the same Gen IV unit for every Gen IV kit they sell, and just make a different bracket for the vehicle. I don't know why it would be misaligned so badly.

Did anyone suggest they may have sent a bad part, maybe one from a Gen II unit, or did you get just a bunch of I don't knows?

The Lokar billet gas pedal looks right at home next to the Lokar floor shifter. The Vintage Air Gen IV Surefit kit is nice quality and comes with good instructions. It is designed to fit the '67-'72 C10's. We like the idea of having A/C and heat built into one compact unit.

Hey Pop, just an idea what if that bracket is 180 Deg rotated? Do you think it goes the other way? Just flip it around maybe ? Do the recessed areas then line up with the fittings ? Maybe that bracket just needs to go on the other way? I haven't looked at it closely, maybe I can come up tomorrow, supposed to rain all day

Duane, mostly the tech people just passed it off to engineering.

What headers are you using.

I believe they are Flow Tech, but I will let Chad confirm that.

Where did you find a tan repro wheel?

I just went through this with my Vintage Air install although mine wasn't as far off as your looks in the pictures. I slotted the holes a little to make the bracket line up better and not interfere with the lines and its all good now. I love your build by the way!

Kevin, we ordered them from Summit Racing, and they are manufactured by Counterpart Automotive. A good friend used these on his '72 and really liked the quality and fit. We haven't installed them yet. I will let you know once they are in.

Mike, thanks for the compliment. I decided to do what you did and opened the bracket around the inlets with a Dremel. So, your unit fit OK on the firewall and mounted without problems? I was just concerned that the holes in the bracket (if it is the wrong bracket) would be off. Still haven't heard from Vintage Air on this problem.

We got the tail light trim installed as well as the other CST emblem on the passenger door and eyebrow trim on front fenders. The Vintage Air has been plumbed and is ready to be mounted. We were able to install the liquid lines through the firewall without removing the grille. By removing the parking light assembly and carefully feeding the lines through the front of the grille they finally dropped in place.

The new AMD tinted back window has been wrapped with a Precision gasket and original stainless trim. A 1/4" rope was inserted and then it was taped with wide painter's tape to hold everything together. Chad and I are going to install it tomorrow and work on finishing up the wood bed.

We got the Vintage Air unit installed under the dash and worked on the electrical connections. We will need a factory center "Y" vent to mount the center outlet. We will be needing a factory A/C Heat/Air Control panel too to finish up. The evaporator and filter is in as well as a relocated transmission cooler.

The windshield and back window are installed and we are beginning installation of new green side window glass and vent windows.

The tailgate hardware is on and the bucket seats are bolted in for the final time. Chad and I plan a full work day on Saturday to get more stuff bolted up.

Sixty9, this is the only picture I have looking up under the truck that shows the gas tank. It actually sits higher in the frame than the track bar or trailing arms. Plus, the rear of the tank is angled for better ground clearance.
