Steering column lower bearing sits outside of housing.

Hey All,
I rebuilt my column a while ago, and just now replaced it into the truck. I am noticing that the spring doesn't offer enough pressure to keep the bearing into the steering column. I am positive that the rebuild is accurate (didn't miss anything).

I do not have the steering wheel installed at this time as I am still working on the interior and it is a lot easier to maneuver without it in place.

Is this normal when the steering wheel is not in place yet? Picture #1
I can move the isolator up to get it to push the bearing into place. Picture #2

Pictures are uploaded upside down for some reason.

Yes, you have to have the steering wheel in place. You will have to have a second person push up on the intermediate shaft (isolator) so the bearing is up in the tube to be able to put the steering wheel on.

Well, that is a relief.
