66 C10 Battery Cables w/396 BBC

Would like some input on this one.
I placed my 66/67 Chevelle BBC engine in my 66 C10.
Looking for a set of battery cables.
Thinking using the Chevelle cables in the truck but was concerned on the lengths being correct.

Any experience with a similar setup?

Thank for any input
Keith

To take any guess work out of that issue, I make all of my battery cables from welding cable. Most welding suppliers also sell the appropriate sized terminals. It's also fun using the hammer lug crimper to take some frustrations out on.

I went down to auto zone and bought the length of cable and the pellets that you heat up in the connector and melted my connections on and cut cable to desired length.

If you want pre made cables I use an old extension cord with the ends cut off and run it along there I want it to go. Then measure that and get one close at the parts store that has the ends I want on it.

Now see I never thought of that, we learn something new every day here. I've been using an old role of 1/8" solder I've had laying around for twenty or more years.

Most of the cables I see are 4GA.
Is that heavy enough for a stock C-10, without air-conditioning or electric fan ??

Yes. Ideally the more strands the better but 4GA is fine. Make sure your ground strap is the same and connected to a good, clean spot on the engine block. Then run ground straps to the frame and body, if possible from the same spot on the block. Bad grounds are the #1 electrical issue that will cause so many of the most random issues people have.

I know I'm not a vendor but I've got a lot of bulk cable and ends if you need something custom made up to double 0
